Arlington - This pup was found and brought to Arlington shelter this morning. Who knows her owners? Please cross-post

Do you recognize this dog? AWLA needs help reuniting her with her owner! This white and brown/red husky was seen near the Ballston Metro this morning around 8am, and then one of our officers was able to catch her on N Vermont St a little while later. She was limping and so is currently at the emergency vet for care. We are sure her family is worried about her and we would like to reunite them as soon as possible. Today is World Snake Day. Snakes in our county - only one is venemous:
🐍the Eastern rat snake,
🐍Eastern garter snake,
🐍Dekay’s brown snake,
🐍Northern water snake and
🐍Northern ring-necked snake;
⚠️ Eastern Copperhead snake:
Copperheads may be found basking in the sun on trails, in rocky areas and in stream valleys. Copperheads can be identified by their:

🔺️ Triangular head shape
💈Vertical pupil
⌛️Hourglass scale pattern that runs the length of their body
-Copper, light brown or tan color
-Yellow-tip tails on juveniles

🥰 Most snakes are common and important predators in our ecosystems and provide a valuable service in our communities in the way of pest control.

It is heartbreaking when a pet goes lost and sometimes only years later, are they reunited with their family. We see it time and time again...

Pet owners nowadays are aware that microchipping is a great idea as they know that most people who find a lost pet (cat, dog or bird) know that the first thing to do is to take a found pet to their local vet where the pet can be scanned for a microchip.

Euphoria -- Hurray, the lost pet has a microchip!

But that is where this lost pet's luck often runs out...

Because a microchip alone does NOTHING if the pet owner failed to REGISTER the microchip after they chipped their pet.

It is heartbreaking indeed.

Please help educate your friends and neighbors - remind them that it is essential to REGISTER your microchipped pet online. In the event your pet goes lost, only with a registration can the pet's owner be found and reunited with their beloved pet.

Our dog walkers are aware of the dangers of heat. Are you? If unsure apply the back of your hand to the surface and if you cannot hold it for 3 seconds then you know it is too hot.

⚠️📢 DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG IN A CAR ALONE, even with engine and A/C running, when temps are 70 or higher ⚠️

+ All dogs begin to experience heat stress when the air temperature exceeds 85 F.
+ On a 70-degree day, the temperature inside of your car can climb to 90 F in just 10 minutes.
+ At just 6 minutes, your dog can already start to exhibit signs of heat exhaustion.
