Very first clutch EVER!!! After my stroke in January, we didn’t pair her any more. So we only had the two pairings from Nov and Dec. we weren’t expecting this at all. Such an AWESOME surprise!!!

Awhile back, we moved Dexter into a bigger enclosure and his enrichment was lacking. Back then, I promised some upgrades and pictures. I’m finally delivering on those! Dexter is pretty content with the upgrade.

So what did you do over fall break?

Built a snake rack, deep cleaned enclosures, and moved the Bellas (Lily & Fat Amy) out of quarantine and into their permanent enclosures.

It was really nice this evening so we decided to take the Bellas (Lily and Fat Amy) outside. Fat Amy was really active so we decided to let her play on the toddler slide/tower and got some really great pics!

And now, here is our heavy hitter. The snake formerly known as Repunzel (name given by pervious breeder)...

Fat Amy! (Pitch Perfect 🎬 reference)

She is a single gene fire morph. Her previous owner reported that she lays on average a whopping 12 eggs per clutch! This girl is HUGE! For reference, Lily weighs just over 1,600 grams. Fat Amy weighs over 4,000! This girl is chunky and we can't wait for her babies!

We had a blast in Arlington and came home with a couple new members of the Heartland Clan. (I'll give each girl her own post)

First, we have Lily. She is an orange dream enchi fire and is ready to give us some baby noodles! Her former owner said that she lays an average of 7 eggs per clutch!

Went to get Patriot out to spend time with him (since he doesn't eat until next week) and found him deep in blue. He wasn't using his humidity box (too small for this chunky snek). So we gave him a bath while we got a new humidity box ready for him.

When you decide you want to become a snake breeder, you do A LOT of research. And one thing we have found in this research is a breeder should ideally be female heavy in the animals that breeder owns. Typically a 3 (females) to 1 (male) ratio is good. However, opportunities arise that are too good to pass up. Our newest arrival happens to be one of those opportunities. This guy is a single gene chocolate ball python. You may be asking - "What's so special about a single gene snake?" That's a fair question. The answer is - HE'S A TWIN! So we're hoping that he'll give us twins when he's ready to breed. Welcome Theo!

This evening was pretty special. Dexter got to move out of his quarantine enclosure and into his bigger one! He is now with the snake rack gang! (And it was measurement day.)

We still need to get him a bigger log and maybe some more vegetation. But I think he's enjoying the new digs so far!

Getting ready for a certain noodle boy to come out of quarantine next week. He is currently using his hides and water dish so those will be added when he is. I'll also be getting him a larger log, but this is what we had on hand.

It has been brought to my attention that there haven't been many posts of our new boy, Dexter. So let's fix that! He's proving to be very curious who loves hair and faces! He is B's new favorite.Thanks again Army Vet w/ Balls for this lovely boy!

Forgot to post this one too... Mahina is looking so pretty sporting her new scales! Look how dull she is while she's in blue and how shiny she is after shedding. The pink in her face gets less and less with each shed. Such a gorgeous girl!
