February is the American Veterinary Medical Association’s National Pet Dental Health Month. About 80% of dogs and 70% of cats will develop some form of dental disease by the age of 3. If left untreated, this will only worsen.

Most pet dental disease occurs below the gumline, where it is hard to spot. This is why the AVMA recommends that all pets get their teeth and gums checked by their veterinarian once a year.

If left untreated, pet dental disease will not only affect your pet’s teeth and contribute to bad breath, it can also cause your pet pain and increase the risk that your pet suffers from heart, liver, and kidney disease.

Having your pet’s teeth and gums checked regularly is not only good for their health, it makes financial sense too, as the cost of preventative dental care is substantially less than the cost of treating dental disease.

Dr. Maxwell headed up to his alma mater on Sunday to support a friend of TCAH and future veterinarian Chloe Ragland at UTCVM's White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2028. Good luck to Chloe and the rest of the Class of '28 as they start their first year of vet school!

We just wanted to let everyone know that our office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, July 4th and 5th, In observance of Independence Day. We will reopen on Monday, July 8th at 8am. Everyone have a happy and safe holiday🇺🇸

In order to make sure our staff can make it home safely given the continued weather and poor road conditions, we're closing today at 1 pm. We hope to be open as normal for our regular hours next week.

Given the continued poor road conditions, we are going to remain closed for the rest of the day and will reevaluate in the morning.

We look forward to reopening once we can safely do so.

In order to ensure the safety of our clients and staff, we are closed through at least noon tomorrow, 1/16. We will be monitoring the weather and road conditions and will update here as we make a decision about reopening.
