Button meeting the sheep :)
Jacque working with Alexa, one of the Alpine mares from Cleburne, making progress.
It's really sad they lost their
freedom, but because they did, we believe their best chance at a good life in the domestic world is to be gentled and friendly. Our goal is to, eventually, when they are ready, to find them their forever homes.
We have been working with Alexa and Mia everyday and they are making good progress!
We started the gentling with Mia and Alexa, 2 of the alpine horses from Cleburne. Jacque got her 1st touch on Mia, slowly but surely β€οΈ
Dinner time! Life is good π
Trixie is a young mini mule. She came along with the 10 horses and donkeys from the auction in Cleburne, TX.
She is so cute. Of course, she is a brat to catch, but then again, who would expect anything else from mini mule lol
Jacque, Micha and I went to Alpine for castrations of the Alpine stallions and jacks.
The vet and her crew were amazing, so caring and generous. After the horses were tranquilized, they got right on it, castration, feet trimming, deworming, shot of excede and fly spray. So efficient, we were really impressed. We also want to thank Destiny and Sue with the SRWHMG, who came out to dart the horses. Destiny was the dart person and she was so awesome and good at her job. This day wouldn't have been possible without her!
It was quite the busy day. Little Benny was castrated and then delivered along with his little friend Minnie Pearl, to their new mama, Shelly Thompson.
Winston was also castrated and came back with us to Mcneal along with the 2 mares, Alexa and Mia. We will be starting their gentling.
We want to thank everyone for their hospitality and generosity.
And of course Julie for taking such good care of the horses.
Here is a recap video of the day. Will post more pictures later.
Old Mo Jo, 1 of the 15 from Cleburne is a sweet old small donkey who probably never had his feet picked up. He was so bad we had to give him Dormasedan to calm him. It took a while to work. As you can see, he is very impatient and found a way to entertain himself!
We got to trim his elf front feet. He is walking a lot better now.
He is a sweet boy. He could use a sponsor. Please reach out if you have an interest!
Who said donkeys were smartπ
Silly Jackie lol
Joanne waiting patiently for her dinner. What a funny girl!
Carlos, the dangerous donkey!
Look how sweet he really is. He was just misunderstood. Poor guy, he must have been so scared. I wonder how many are put there just like him, ending up in ignorant hands.
Jacque is doing an amazing job as usual
Mr Frost.
I pretty much can walk right up to him and halter him. I am so happy about that. When I let him go, he even follows me back to the gate!
He let's me take care of his eyes, I know he hates it. The next step will be a fly mask. He also hates that, it used to take me a long time to put one on.
The progress he has made is huge and I am so thrilled :)
Yep, this is Sunrise lol
The donkeys must have dug a hole at the back of the pasture, and with all the rain we got last night, it must have filled up. I guess Sunrise likes to roll in the liquid mud.
She is a mess, I guess flies won't be bothering her today!
