Katherine Ward, also known as Camberley Kate, was born in 1895 and died in 1979. She lived in Camberley, England, and was known for her dedication to old, injured, and stray dogs. She dedicated her life to rescuing dogs after coming upon a Greyhound lying outside a vet's office, due to be euthanized. She took him from the spot where he lay and continued to care for him for eight more years. She pushed her cart around town to get her dogs out and to pick up any that needed help. It is estimated that she cared for over 600 dogs in her 84 years of life. She worked in domestic service and later as a servant at the Royal Military Academy. She passed away in a nursing home and left a trust fund for the dogs still in her care. ❤️
