🐾 Training Tip Tuesday! 🐾
Ready to teach your dog the “Sit” command? It’s one of the most essential commands and can be a great foundation for more advanced training. Here’s a quick and easy method to get started:
Get their attention: Hold a treat close to your dog’s nose.
Guide them: Slowly move the treat upwards, letting their head follow the treat. This will naturally cause their bottom to lower into a sitting position.
Reward immediately: As soon as they sit, say “Sit,” and give them the treat along with lots of praise! 🎉
Pro Tip: Practice this a few times every day, keeping sessions short and fun to maintain their interest. Soon, your dog will be sitting like a pro! 🐶

Tip #3 on find a Responsible Breeder
A responsible breeder recognizes the importance of thorough screening when it comes to finding suitable homes for their puppies. They utilize applications as a way to gather essential information about potential buyers, including their living situation, experience with dogs, and their commitment to responsible pet ownership. The application process allows breeders to assess whether the applicant possesses the necessary knowledge, resources, and dedication to provide a loving and appropriate home for one of their puppies.
In addition to applications, responsible breeders often implement contracts to establish clear expectations and guidelines for both the breeder and the buyer. These contracts typically outline important aspects such as the health guarantees, spay/neuter requirements, and the breeder's ongoing support and advice. They may also include clauses regarding responsible breeding practices, which may prohibit the buyer from using the puppy for breeding purposes or require certain health tests to be conducted in the future.
By using applications and contracts, responsible breeders aim to ensure the well-being and proper placement of their puppies. They prioritize finding loving, committed homes where the puppies will receive the care, attention, and environment necessary for a happy and healthy life. These tools provide a means for the breeder to communicate their expectations, educate the buyer, and establish a mutual understanding of the responsibilities involved in owning one of their puppies. Ultimately, applications and contracts help responsible breeders safeguard the welfare of their dogs and contribute to the betterment of the breed as a whole.

Tip #2 on Finding a Responsible Breeder
A responsible breeder only breeds a small number of breeds, generally only 1, maybe 2; very rarely perhaps 3-4 if the breeds are very similar.
A responsible breeder understands the importance of maintaining the health, temperament, and overall well-being of the dogs they breed. With this understanding, they recognize that it is essential to focus on a limited number of breeds. By specializing in a select few, responsible breeders can dedicate their time, resources, and expertise to ensuring the highest quality of breeding practices.
Breeding a limited number of breeds allows a responsible breeder to thoroughly research and understand each breed's specific characteristics, genetic predispositions, and potential health issues. They can develop an in-depth knowledge of the breed standard and work towards producing puppies that adhere to those standards. This focused approach enables breeders to make informed decisions about pairing dogs, selecting suitable mates with complementary traits, and promoting genetic diversity within the breed.
Furthermore, responsible breeders prioritize the well-being of their dogs and puppies. By breeding a limited number of breeds, they can provide individualized attention, socialization, and care to each animal. They can closely monitor the health and development of their dogs, conduct necessary health tests, and ensure appropriate veterinary care. This level of commitment is crucial in producing puppies with sound physical and mental health, as well as stable temperaments, which ultimately leads to happy and well-adjusted pets for their future owners.
In summary, a responsible breeder's decision to focus on a limited number of breeds reflects their dedication to maintaining breed standards, promoting genetic diversity, and prioritizing the health and well-being of their dogs. This focused approach allows them to devote their expertise and resources to producing high-quality puppies with exce
Tip #1 on Finding a Responsible Breeder
A Responsible Breeder will health test their parent dogs. Health testing is a critical component in responsible breeding to ensure that puppies produced will be free of heritable diseases that can compromise their quality of life and cost their new owners significant vet bills. With the advances in veterinary medicine and genetics, many diseases can be screened and are preventable from passing down to puppies with proper health testing.
DNA testing is a component of health testing as some heritable diseases have been linked to certain DNA sequences and can be tested for. A Responsible breeder will ensure that their parent dogs are not affected or a carrier of any identifiable genetic conditions for the breed.
Health testing is more than just a DNA test like Embark though. There are also physical and Radiographic tests that are critically important in identifying if a parent dog is eligible for responsible breeding. OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) is a repository for health tests of parents dogs. OFA works in conjunction with the Parent Breed club of each breed, which is responsible for recommending standard testing based on health conditions seen in a particular breed. In Siberian Huskies, the common heritable conditions are Eye problems, and Hip Dysplasia.
OFA provides a list of all the recommended tests for each breed and makes their repository of testing results available to the public for free. A dog that has passed all the recommended health testing for the Breed will be given a CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) number.
Reputable breeders will be willing to provide you with all the health testing documentation for their parent dogs. They will also utilize these health testing practices to confidently offer a health guarantee on their puppies.
Never hesitate to ask for health information on the parent dogs of a puppy you are considering. Ensuring your future puppy comes from healthy parents is a f

Umi, one of our past puppies, at just 5 months old. When we say that we value a good temperament and trainability in our puppies, this is exactly what we mean!
As the puppies went to their amazing new homes, I kept getting the same question - "They smell so good! What do you use!?"
So I guess I better share the secret! We use @PetalsandTails shampoo which is hypoallergenic, all natural, and safe for puppies 6 weeks and older. We love their products and the scent is amazing and long lasting! Rosy Rose is our personal favorite, but they have a lot of different scents.

Monday Husky Facts with Islay!
It's no secret that huskies can be stubborn and have a challenging temperament, that is why training is so key for raising a well adjusted husky. By starting at a young age with consistent training, they are set up to be much more successful when they are adults.
While huskies will always have their innate stubbornness, they are incredibly smart and thrive when positively challenged.

Monday Husky Facts with Sini and Islay!
Huskies are bred to run and they run a lot! Huskies need daily walks/jogs or a large yard to run out all that energy! This exercise is necessary not only for their physical health but their mental health as well. Huskies that don't get enough exercise have a tendency to take their frustration out by knawing their way through the household 😬 so do yourself and your pup a favor and get out for a walk!
We throw a lot of penalties in an officiating household! Sini and Islay (eye-la) like to try out flashy new ways of tossing flags!
