You might recognize this sweet sweet soul’s picture. He was found about a week ago in someone’s yard, sleeping. He was picked up by the animal control officers and brought into the shelter. We met him a few days ago and knew he had to get a second chance. Despite the life we can only imagine he has struggled through, he has the best demeanor. As you can tell he has multiple wounds and scars all over him. Not only that but he has also had his ears mutilated (probably as an innocent puppy) and is blind in his right eye, which is from an old injury. We have had him checked out at the vet, trying to make sure there is nothing else going on with him, having blood tests, etc. He is recovering from a ruptured abscess as well as some other open wounds. On top of all of that, he is covered in fleas. This poor fella is only about five years old, and hopefully has the opportunity to have a beautiful life ahead. We are trying to raise funds to get his vetting covered as well as his medications, any additional testing he might need, as well as transportation costs. We have named him Waldo. He deserves only the best.

Update Safe ❤️🐾

These 3 adorable nuggets were left out in a field to be coyote. Food unfortunately their mom did not make it . The ACO in Lamesa was able to get them and bring them back to health. Two of them had severe wounds on them. They have been at a foster house, but the Foster can no longer hold them we are desperately looking for a rescue tag. They are Chihuahua mixes approximately 4 1/2 months old, under 10 pounds

PSA: Let's talk about something SCARY. RABIES 🦇🦊🦨
Fast facts:
1. We've had local cases of rabid wildlife. *see map
2. Rabies is 100% FATAL ☠️⚰️ in animals and 99%+ FATAL in humans.
3. Rabies is 100% PREVENTABLE in our pets.
4. Rabies vaccination is MANDATORY in the state of Texas. Did you know it's a Class C misdemeanor to not have your pet vaccinated?
5. Rabies vaccines can be legally given either once yearly or every 3 years (this can be discussed with your vet).
6. Rabies titers can be run BUT only show protection adequacy and DO NOT count for legality.
7. A pet biting a human= QUARANTINE:
A. If your pet bites someone and is CURRENT on their vaccine, a home quarantine may be allowed. This would be at the discretion of the local Rabies authority.
B. If your pet bites someone and is NOT CURRENT on their vaccine, there is a mandatory 10 day quarantine.
9. To summarize, Rabies is present and fatal, but luckily is preventable.
10. Be very weary of any wildlife (namely skunks, foxes, and bats) that act erratically or aggressively!
