Crawford County Humane Society Policies & Disclaimer Adoption Hours Monday-Thursday: 12:00-6:45 Saturday 12:00-3:45 Giving Up an Unwanted Animal Monday-Thursday: 12:00-5:00 *By Appointment Only* Adoption Fees DOGS & PUPS $70.00 + $45.00 Deposit (+ $5.00 IF THE RABIES SHOT WAS GIVEN) SPAYED or NEUTERED DOGS $120.00 (includes rabies vaccine) All of our dogs and pups have received their basic inoculations for Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Coronavirus, Leptospirosis, in addition to Adenovirus type 2, Parainfluenza & Bordetella (3 factors in Kennel Cough). Also, all of our dogs and pups have been injected with the AVID Microchip. CATS & KITTENS $55.00 + $30.00 Deposit (+ $5.00 IF THE RABIES SHOT WAS GIVEN) SPAYED or NEUTERED CATS $90.00 (includes rabies vaccine) All of our cats and kittens have received their basic inoculations for Distemper, and 3 upper respiratory diseases: Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Chlamydia. Also, all of our cats and kittens have been injected with the AVID Microchip. MISCELLANEOUS ANIMALS - CHARGES VARY ACCORDING TO ANIMAL. STERILIZATION DEPOSIT REFUND To receive your deposit refund, you must have your dog or cat spayed or neutered by a veterinarian of your choice within 30 days of adoption in the case of a mature animal or, in the case of an immature animal, within 30 days of the date the animal attained the age of 6 months, You then must bring or mail the Spay/Neuter Response Form completed by your veterinarian showing that the surgery was performed to the Crawford County Humane Society. The Crawford County Humane Society will then confirm the receipt, and will issue you a reimbursement check by US Mail within 15 days of receiving your veterinary receipt. If you fail, refuse or neglect to have your pet Spayed or Neutered, you will forfeit your deposit after 30 days from the date of adoption in the case of a mature animal, or in the case of an immature animal, within 30 days of the date the animal attained the age of 6 months. REFUND POLICY If the animal is returned within TEN (10) DAYS of the adoption, the Humane Society will refund 50% of the adoption charge and your Spay/ Neuter deposit. No refund will be made if the return is the fault of the person who adopted the animal. No refund will be made after the TEN (10) DAYS, and an admission charge will be imposed. RETURNS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE RECEIPT, AND THE AVID MICROCHIP CERTIFICATE. All of our animals are in good health to the best of our knowledge at the time of adoption. The Crawford County Humane Society will not take responsibility for any veterinary expenses, nor for any personal or property damages after the date and time of adoption. Any animal which is believed to be ill within TEN (10) DAYS of the date of adoption must be returned to the Crawford County Humane Society if you are unwilling to cover the necessary veterinary expenses. You Must Have an Appointment to Return an Animal Dogs that are admitted into the Shelter as strays are not eligible for adoption for a minimum of 48 hours from the time they are admitted. Unwanted dogs are eligible for adoption on the following day. All adoption are first come first serviced. we are not a boarding facility and do not board any animals. All animals must be 8 weeks of age or older to be placed up for adoption. All of our animals are given a health and temperament evaluation, treated for any health condition requiring attention (i.e. worming), and given their basic inoculations before being placed up for adoption. State Law requires that we hold all stray dogs 48 hours from the time of arrival at our Shelter before being placed up for adoption. The Crawford County Humane Society tries to keep all of our animals as long as possible, but there is no set length of time after this 48 hour period for which these strays will be held. (By separate arrangement, stray dogs picked up from within Meadville city limits will be held for 72 hours from the time of arrival at our Shelter.) Cats that are admitted into the Shelter as strays are not eligible for adoption for a minimum of 48 hours from the time they are admitted. Unwanted cats are eligible for adoption on the following day. All adoption are first come first serviced. we are not a boarding facility and do not board any animals.
