The Speranza Story:
Janine Guido is a Carlisle High School graduate who has always had a passion for helping animals in need. At the age of 27, she realized that this was more than a hobby to her; this was her purpose in life. e, Janine started rescuing as many dogs as possible from high kill shelters and other unfortunate circumstances. Janine is committed to saving the dogs that no one else will; the abused, neglected, and ones in need of much veterinary care. She works with several local veterinarians, and not-so-local specialists, to ensure that her animals not only get the love and affection that they deserve, but also all of the medical attention that they need. Speranza has taken in dogs with dislocated shoulders, broken bones, many cases of severe skin infection, a few heart worm infected dogs, several dogs requiring eye surgeries, several cases of starvation and a variety of other issues. Resources and space and the only things that limit the animals saved. The reality of the situation is that if Speranza is going to be committed to saving the dogs in the most need of medical attention, then Speranza is also going to have to be committed to continual fundraising to support the mission. Speranza Animal Rescue received its 501c3 Tax-Deductible Non-Profit status from the IRS in early 2014, making all donations tax deductible. Speranza is committed to saving as many animals as possible and finding them their forever homes. The hours required and dollars needed to save and rehabilitate these animals in need will not deter Janine from pursuing the mission of Speranza Animal Rescue. Rescue Rehab and Haven

Speranza Animal Rescue has saved dogs from a variety of grim situations. Janine has spent hours in the rain to catch a stray, entered numerous abandoned dwellings not knowing what she would find, saved many dogs from euthanasia in shelters, stepped up to take in countless injured dogs and has driven hours to help with hoarding situations… just to name a few. Speranza is an all breed, all species rescue. However, our mission has brought more Pit Bull Terriers and other bully breeds through the rescue than any other breed. Janine has saved small dogs and large dogs, Labs and Hounds, but Speranza takes much pride in supporting the Pit Bull Breed. Janine has made a commitment to save the true under dogs; regardless of how much time or money it will take to make the animal healthy, happy and carefree. She has a special gift that allows her to take a terrified, neglected dog and, with time and affection, turn it into a loving, friendly dog. Speranza has not shied away from an ailment or injury yet. Several of our dogs have had life saving surgeries and several others have had surgeries to improve overall quality of life. Speranza is fortunate to have tremendous support from local veterinarians, wonderful volunteers and it is located on a beautiful green countryside farm. We have found this combination to work wonders on these animals. Speranza Animal Rescue is not only a rescue, but it is also a haven for the dogs that are not adoptable, due to medical or behavioral issues. There is no time limit for dogs at Speranza. Every animal that comes to Speranza is guaranteed a lifetime of love, green pastures and happiness; until they find their perfect home or for the rest of their natural life. We have some exciting news!! Bean has landed! 🛬 🩵

Sweet Bean has made his way to PA via plane and is settling in nicely into his new life! We aren’t sure what his ideal home would be just yet. We are letting him adjust to us all at the rescue before we test him. Stay tuned!

Bean had his eyes removed due to a bad case of glaucoma. He also has some hearing loss. But he doesn’t let any of that slow him down!

Meet LB!

LB is a petite pittie/microbully mix who was found locally as a stray. He is estimated to be 5 months old. He is dog-friendly and would do okay with kids 15 and older.

LB, although young, has an issue with guarding his food and other high-value items. Our trainer has been working with him, and he’s doing great with his “homework” 🙂 But he will need someone who will continue to work with him so he can be the best boy ❤️

LB is potty-trained and crate-trained! He is currently in a foster home but is looking for a more suitable foster with the time and experience to work with this sweet boy. ❣️ his ideal home would have a canine sibling to help show him the ropes.

LB is currently around 20lbs and we really don’t see him getting much bigger he’s a petite little guy!

Johnson is back and ready to find a more suitable home. We are out of space at the rescue so he is currently in boarding 😭 He is a really friendly boy, but he’s very rambunctious. A home with no small kids would be best.

He is dog-friendly, but a tolerant dog will be key to his success. He could also be in a home with no other pets but could be dog-social. He is truly an amazing dog; he just needs exercise and structure. He would be amazing with training.

Johnson is a volunteer favorite and an amazing event dog!

Meet Gucci Girl!

The best home for Gucci is one with no young kids or pets.

Gucci is an older gal, she’s around 9 years old. She’s been nothing but sweet to everyone at the rescue. She’s stressed in the kennel environment so we’d love to get her into a home before the Holidays 🎄

Gucci’s owner passed away and he was her whole world. She started out very nervous with us but she’s blossomed into a social butterfly. She's a volunteer favorite. She always has a smile on her face now ❤️

His ideal home is one with no pets or young kids. He walks nicely on a leash and keeps a clean kennel. Cookie needs to be bathed once a week and a shot monthly for his allergies. We are more than happy to help his new family with these things.

🚨 🚨🚨Foster Needed 🚨 🚨 Meet Bean: Male, around four years old. Bean had a severe case of glaucoma that was left untreated. He had to have both eyes removed. Bean is coming to Speranza shortly, and due to his eyesight or lack thereof, we would love to have him in a foster home. He is also hard of hearing. The rescue is no place for this little guy while he heals. Bean is said to be good with female dogs, cats, and kids. When Helga arrived at Speranza she was filled with anger. She would charge the fence and strike the ground. It honestly was not just very intimidating … but also very sad. It was like she had given up…. Today when I saw her romping around the field I couldn’t help but smile. And I’m so thankful I was able to capture this moment on. Camera. ❤️
