Speranza Animal Rescue

Speranza Animal Rescue A 501c3 Non Profit Rescue, Rehabilitation Center, and Sanctuary. In the spring of 2012 Speranza Animal Rescue was officially established.

The Speranza Story:
Janine Guido is a Carlisle High School graduate who has always had a passion for helping animals in need. At the age of 27, she realized that this was more than a hobby to her; this was her purpose in life. Speranza means “hope” in Italian. converting spare stalls in the horse barn on her parents’ farm in Monroe Township into kennels and using every penny to her nam

e, Janine started rescuing as many dogs as possible from high kill shelters and other unfortunate circumstances. Janine is committed to saving the dogs that no one else will; the abused, neglected, and ones in need of much veterinary care. She works with several local veterinarians, and not-so-local specialists, to ensure that her animals not only get the love and affection that they deserve, but also all of the medical attention that they need. Speranza has taken in dogs with dislocated shoulders, broken bones, many cases of severe skin infection, a few heart worm infected dogs, several dogs requiring eye surgeries, several cases of starvation and a variety of other issues. Resources and space and the only things that limit the animals saved. The reality of the situation is that if Speranza is going to be committed to saving the dogs in the most need of medical attention, then Speranza is also going to have to be committed to continual fundraising to support the mission. Speranza Animal Rescue received its 501c3 Tax-Deductible Non-Profit status from the IRS in early 2014, making all donations tax deductible. Speranza is committed to saving as many animals as possible and finding them their forever homes. The hours required and dollars needed to save and rehabilitate these animals in need will not deter Janine from pursuing the mission of Speranza Animal Rescue. Rescue Rehab and Haven

Speranza Animal Rescue has saved dogs from a variety of grim situations. Janine has spent hours in the rain to catch a stray, entered numerous abandoned dwellings not knowing what she would find, saved many dogs from euthanasia in shelters, stepped up to take in countless injured dogs and has driven hours to help with hoarding situations… just to name a few. Speranza is an all breed, all species rescue. However, our mission has brought more Pit Bull Terriers and other bully breeds through the rescue than any other breed. Janine has saved small dogs and large dogs, Labs and Hounds, but Speranza takes much pride in supporting the Pit Bull Breed. Janine has made a commitment to save the true under dogs; regardless of how much time or money it will take to make the animal healthy, happy and carefree. She has a special gift that allows her to take a terrified, neglected dog and, with time and affection, turn it into a loving, friendly dog. Speranza has not shied away from an ailment or injury yet. Several of our dogs have had life saving surgeries and several others have had surgeries to improve overall quality of life. Speranza is fortunate to have tremendous support from local veterinarians, wonderful volunteers and it is located on a beautiful green countryside farm. We have found this combination to work wonders on these animals. Speranza Animal Rescue is not only a rescue, but it is also a haven for the dogs that are not adoptable, due to medical or behavioral issues. There is no time limit for dogs at Speranza. Every animal that comes to Speranza is guaranteed a lifetime of love, green pastures and happiness; until they find their perfect home or for the rest of their natural life. We just found out sweet Ratatoille aka Touille passed away 😭 He was such a special boy ❤️💔 Rest easy buddy 💔

From his momma

“The house is too quiet without you.

Falling in love with you was easy; like there was a room in our hearts that was meant for you, and once you became ours, it was like you were always supposed to be there. You became fast friends with Ike and Finn as you learned how to be a dog. Watching you come out of your shell and seeing your personality develop was a fun and beautiful thing.

You were a goofy pup with your bald head and droopy lip… loved to squeak a ball every chance you got - especially when I was trying to talk on the phone. You were the chattiest dog - always had something to say or an opinion to give. Butt scratches were always demanded by you and if we didn’t meet your expectations, you’d throw your butt back to us as if to say, More! Sun bathing was your favorite and you’d spend hours outside basking in the warmth. You were a bonafide couch potato - always ready to curl up next to us and use your brother’s butt as a head rest.

You welcomed Fitz - albeit with a bit of trepidation and gnashing of teeth - but that spotted fuzzball wiggled his way into your good graces. You were the ultimate big brother, playing with him, sunning with him, and tolerating him.

We didn’t know what kind of life you lived before you met us, but we sure did make up for it. You were well traveled, had many friends, toys, and treats, car rides just for fun, and a wardrobe to keep you warm during the chilly months.

But most of all, Tou Tou, you were loved.

We knew our time with you was limited after your diagnosis last year, and we are grateful for every moment we got to spend with you. Thank you for loving us back. We’ll miss you forever. ❤️”

❣️AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION❣️

Meet Genevieve!

Genevieve was pulled from ACCT Philly in our Christmas saves this year!

She is a young adult female who is on the search for her forever home! Her ideal home would have no cats or kids. We have dog tested her and she seems to be okay with dogs.

She is very bossy and sassy but also so goofy. 😆She can be barky when she is looking for attention. But this could be related to being in the kennel and just wanting extra attention and time from volunteers. Since she is bossy we would want to find a dog that will mesh with her.

Genevieve loves everyone she meets! She enjoys her walks and chewing on a bone in her kennel. She keeps her kennel clean too! Did we mention how cute her ears are!!🥰

Meet Snowball!

This handsome boy is 70 lbs of pure love and affection. He cannot be close enough to you. He gives the best hugs. If you do not like clingy, Snowball is not the guy for you‼️🤣

Snowball seems interested in dogs, but we can’t get the best read on him. We think a submissive female may be best. As with any new pup, slow intros will be key. We have not been able to kid-test him, but with how nervous he can be, older kids would be best.

We hope to get him into a foster home so that we can learn more about what the best home would be for him. He’s been nothing but sweet with everyone. We think he’s going to be an amazing house guest and find his home fast 🥰

Hermey can’t believe that no one put in an app for him! He’s perfect ❤️ He is great with people and tested well with dogs, too! We are unsure about kitties‼️

This cutest boy has the best tippy-tap happy feet. He weighs a little over 50 lbs. He rides nicely in the car. He’s working on his leash manners, but we think he’s doing great.

Hermey still needs to be neutered, but he is available for foster or foster to adopt. He has an appointment coming up next month.
