A personal favorite color pallet 🩷💚 With spring being a little hard for us this year we were about 4 weeks behind on planting out our “summer” flowers and are aiming for late summer/early fall for a floral comeback. We are also already planning and starting our cold hardy spring flowers to make sure spring 2025 is full of color!

Lisianthus… the flower that teaches us patience and to slow down and enjoy life. 💕 They are a favorite and I’m happy they are getting closer to bloom time. A couple weeks and these will be bursting with blooms 🤩

Took a trip to France and today I got to visit the lavender fields in Valensole. Im in heaven! 💜 if you ever have the opportunity to go make sure you respect the lavender, farmers and bees 🐝 by not touching the flowers and making sure you have permission to be in a farmer’s field 🙂

When it seems overwhelming, just go one row at a time 🌱

To say the weeds have taken over is an understatement. I’ve been struggling to keep the field up the last two months. We had some family stuff and the field took a backseat. Finally getting back to a point where I can put in some time and focus. I’ve been rethinking my layout and approach and am excited for what’s to come. For now, I’ll just go row by row, seedling by seedling and tuber by tuber and then watch Mother Nature do her thing! Can’t wait for an abundance of late summer and fall blooms!

Hi flower lovers,

I must unfortunately inform you that I will not have flowers available for sale tomorrow. While I do have some in the field I must prioritize spending time with my family during a challenging time. I am truly sorry that I will not be able to fulfill any new orders but if you still need/want local flowers check out who is open on Saturdays 11-3. They have a beautiful selection from a great group of local growers.

I know when most people drive by open fields they aren’t silently calculating how many rows of flowers they can fit in that field, but it has become one of my favorite things. I see this and 🤩

Ok ok, so what’s the exciting news?! You are officially looking at the first future BHFF PEONY field!!!!! Going to start with about 500 and grow from there!!! Springs are going to get even better 🥳

Took my favorite little grower out to help me check on the and babies. After a week of temps in the teens and high winds, we had 4 days of 60s and 70s 🤦🏻‍♀️. Now we are getting back to the 30s and 40s with night temps later this week in the 20s.

When it’s in the 30s and 40s I use a frost cloth over the hoops. When it dips in the low 20s or lower I lay the frost cloth right on top of the plants and cover the hoops with 4 mil plastic sheeting. This past week when it was warm I just covered the hoops with insect netting and I’m only using that to keep the critters out as I don’t have a fence yet out at the expanded space.

Lots of new growers can be intimidated with anemones and ranunculus because they can seem a little diva(ish) but don’t let that hold you back. Start with a small amount your first time trying them. You can even grow them in containers if you don’t have room for hoops etc and can pull them in a garage etc if it drops too low. They are relatively cold hardy as long as the roots/corms don’t freeze.

You can see in some of my pics that a few leaves have some frost/wind damage and some are leggy as hell but I’m not worried and usually don’t really pay attention to the first round of leaves. They are showing new growth which is awesome! That means strong root systems and when the temps officially warm up they will be ready to pop out some beautiful buds!

Just over here waiting on these 512 seeds to germinate. These particular seeds have taught me patience in the last few years. Boy do they take awhile but when they bloom 😍🤩 they are one of my favorite flowers to work with. Swipe to see what they will grow into this summer.
