This stunning brindle male pup has travelled Wilson Avenue in Cedar Rapids extensively since mid-January. Through collective efforts and public notifications, we successfully tracked his movements. A trap was strategically positioned for two weeks in a location he frequently visited, but he abruptly disappeared from that site. Fortunately, social media facilitated his rediscovery. On Wednesday, we relocated the trap, ultimately leading to his capture at 12:23 am on Friday morning. Special recognition is due to Jakob, Emma, Cody, Jess, Caleb, Rick, and Regina for their invaluable assistance in making this rescue a success.
Little Wesley made his great escape near Zombie Burger in East Village in Des Moines on February 28. He made a beeline south where he was caught on camera and a trap was set. It took him a bit to get trap-savvy but eventually his love of food conquered all! Wesley is super lucky to have such awesome owners who were with him every step of the way to help get him home. Welcome home Wesley!
Obie Obie, where do we start? On October 27, 2024, this sneaky pup broke free from his leash while on his way to get groomed. We were left searching for weeks, but it seemed like he was playing a game of hide-and-seek. That was until Marty, a local hero, decided to search Facebook for missing dogs in the area, as she has seen this beautiful dog running around. And then, eureka! She found Obie's missing post and contacted us. We set up a trap, but Obie was too clever. So, we brought out the big guns - a huge live trap baited with chicken and enough scent to attract a dog from a mile away. And, well, it worked like a charm. Obie's adventure is finally over, and he's home safe tonight! Welcome Home Obie!!
Millie's courageous heart and little legs worked in tandem after she escaped her home in North Liberty, leading her on an epic 15-mile journey from home where her incredible endurance was finally rewarded! This morning we received a tip that Millie was spotted on a farm, and we promptly responded with Matt from MADR MEDIA / Midwest Aerial Drone Recovery. Matt carefully steered her towards the trap after she took him on a thrilling adventure, discovering the entire farm land. Millie is now safely back home and will be taking a well-deserved rest! Thank you to everyone who watched over her and called! Welcome home Millie!!
We've been tracking this pup around Squaw Creek Village in Marion since January, and we finally tracked her down to a spot she loves. Lucas, the homeowner, was a huge help, letting us set up cameras and a trap in his yard. At 754pm, she checked out the trap, and then came back at 808pm for a snack. We're really grateful to everyone who reached out about her. If you know anything about this girl, temporarily named 'Kace', give us a shout.
We were called upon to lend a helping hand in Winterset, where a dog had been roaming free since February 2. A trap was first set on Saturday, but its location had to be adjusted on Monday, given this adventurous boy's impressive traveling capabilities, which spanned around 3 miles. Come Wednesday's late afternoon, his wandering days were over, as he was securely trapped. Kudos to Lisa and Heather for their kindness in seeking our assistance and taking charge of trap duty! Also thank you AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport for giving him a safe place to stay!
Following her arrival at the new foster home in Indianola on Saturday, Miss Daisy Mae suddenly fled while still leashed. Pursuant to multiple sightings reported by local residents, Paws members undertook a comprehensive trapping effort. Ultimately, Daisy was lured to enter a carefully positioned trap at the residence of Sandy Espenmiller on Thursday morning. Thank you, Sandy, for your calm demeanor while sitting with Daisy until assistance arrived. The team expresses sincere appreciation to Nate of Kiya Koda Humane Society for his essential contributions to trap placement and management.
On January 11, shortly after 10:30 PM, JJ was safely captured. Upon arrival at his new residence on December 28, JJ pushed through the screen door. Multiple sightings occurred approximately three miles away from the location where JJ initially went missing. With permission, team members placed cameras in areas where JJ was spotted to identify potential routine patterns. Following his appearance on camera, traps were set. The evening prior to his capture, JJ discovered food and effortlessly entered the trap, which had been secured open with bungee cords. We extend our gratitude to community members who provided updates on JJ's whereabouts and to homeowners who allowed trap placement. Today, JJ is safely back home, warm and secure.
We're throwing Kiko a New Year's party tonight by finally catching her! She made a break for it on December 21. This awesome community flooded us with calls about Kiko sightings. Today we set three traps, the last one just ten minutes after a sighting. We drenched the area in scents, hoping Kiko's nose would lead her home. And guess what? Hunger beat fear today! Welcome back, Kiko!

Gigi managed to Houdini her way out of her harness while at a friend's house, getting spooked by a loud car and making a run for it. She'd return to the house, but was being a total diva and refusing to go to the sitter. Last night, the team headed to Dexter, loaded up with cameras, a trap, and some chicken. When they arrived, Gigi was hanging out in the driveway, but as expected, she took off. The trap was set, the camera was rolling, and all they could do was wait. Gigi first appeared in the driveway at 11:02 pm, but wandered off again, only to reappear at 11:36 pm to explore the trap. And just two minutes later, she was safely caught in the trap.
