What a Week! 🐴☀️
This past week’s kids' camp was full of laughter, growth, and moments that will stick with us for a long time. From early morning greetings with the herd to obstacle challenges and quiet reflections, every camper brought something unique—and left with something even more powerful.

We were especially touched by one parent’s message:
“I thank you all more than you will ever know. Carmelo has added yet another passion.” – Kay

🐴 What a Week at Youth Camp!
We just wrapped up an incredible week with our 11–13 year-olds—and parents shared how surprised they were to see their kids enthusiastically getting up early every morning to attend. One even said, “Summer break just started, and my child was excited to wake up early just to come here!”

That’s the power of Equine-Assisted Learning: it’s fun, memorable, and teaches life skills that stick.Through herd observation, obstacle challenges, reflection activities, and horse interaction, campers explored trust, communication, frustration, boundaries, and leadership in a way that felt real—not like school, but like discovery.

Milestone Moments with Orion 🐴💫

Just over a month old, Sparrow’s Orion continues to show us what trust truly looks like. This week, he allowed all four feet to be picked up—willingly, without resistance, and without a halter or lead rope. Not because he was forced… but because the relationship has been built with consistency, calm, and connection.

Even more humbling? The moment he let me lay beside him while he slept—completely flat out, vulnerable, and at peace. That’s not something you can train into a horse. That’s something they choose when they know they’re safe.

This is what happens when connection is the foundation. We don’t force. We don’t rush. We offer choice—and the trust that follows is real.

While our founder was out of town for training, Lory and Beth stepped up big time—holding down the fort and taking on admin support for Mended Sparrow, Inc. We are incredibly grateful for these two strong, dependable, and heart-filled women.

They didn’t stop there—both showed up looking sharp, proudly representing Mended Sparrow at the Virginia Association of Law Enforcement (V.A.L.E.) Career Fair this past Sunday, alongside federal, state, and local agencies from across Virginia.
