On Veterans Day, Mended Sparrow, Inc would like to take a moment to express their gratitude to all the brave men and women who have served our country and those who continue serving in public safety. The sacrifices that come with serving, along with the bravery and selflessness of those who have served. Sending a strong hug to all my brothers and sisters.

What a fun site visit with Richmond Police Peer Support Team! Mended Sparrow Inc showcasing some of the different types of programs it has to offer for RPD. A big shout out to all the volunteers and Compass Christian Church Sunday School Ladies providing lunch, made this event successful! Couldn’t do it without a tribe!

The night before…..23 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00 am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same.

As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

We appreciate Compass Christian Church for inviting us to Sunday School to supplement their lesson on Trauma-Informed Care with a demonstration of additional services available for those experiencing trauma. A high school student remarked, “I didn’t realize there were so many services available.”

Mended Sparrow Inc. is a 501(c)(3), that provides equine assisted services to service members, veterans, first responders with PTSD and/or disabilities, and similarly situated individuals (e.g. nurses, doctors, dispatch, corrections, peer support for trauma) and their families.
