Penticton Place

Penticton Place Penticton Place is almost an average Wisconsin hobby farm. Managed by a determined young woman instead of the traditional farming family.

Focused on Puggle puppies and registered Nigerian Dwarf goats, with bits of environmental consciousness thrown in.

We will have whole Cornish cross chickens available in a couple of weeks. These guys are pastured (via chicken tractors), and grown slower than the grocery store chickens. Being allowed to forage a bit, they get some variety in their diet and some exercise. If you don't think chicken has flavor, you need to try this chicken!

Processed, bagged, and frozen, these chickens will be $4/pound. If you can't wait that long, or are looking to save some money while learning a new skill, they are currently available, live for $3/pound. They are ranging about 5-6 pounds.

Colored eggs, from free ranged hens, are also available in limited quantities. You'll have to give our new girls some leeway on their egg size for a couple of weeks. Making breakfast is hard work!

Snowball is tired of being a big sister and would like to be an only child again! She's unaware that stuff like this happens when you dig a hole under the fence and mom can spend some time with Koda. Luckily for her, this litter is going fast! We started with 7 pups, and just over a week later, we only have two available.

We have roosters available! These guys are ready for the barn or the oven. They've been free ranged and fed local grains. Not too docile nor aggressive. We can help get them ready for the oven for a little extra.

It may be a bit unprofessional, but I am not sure on breeds for most of these boys. I do know the orange ones are Buff Orpington, as I ordered those in particular to retain a rooster. They are said to be a docile and laid back breed as well as a good bird to put on the table.

Birds originally came from Sunnyside Hatchery.

I've been attempting to grow seedlings for five years now. I have learned so much! It is nowhere near as simple as it seems. My first plants were thin, tiny, and flopped over at the slightest breeze. Now, though they didn't grow perfectly straight, I'm finally getting beautiful, strong, and thriving plants. I'm so impressed with the root development on these peppers! Next year, I think I'll be ready to sell vegetable plant starts at a few farmer's markets.

If you're looking to support a small business and buy plants in Medford Wisconsin, we have heirloom tomatoes and a variety of peppers still available. I know it's late in the season, so we aren't asking for a lot for them. Just send a message for more information!

Whoever has said Cornish cross are terrible foragers just hasn't given them the opportunity to forage! These are a few of our Cornish cross chickens from our second batch of meat birds. We've been redoing our garden area this spring, and these birds are underfoot everytime they see me scoop up some dirt, which always reveals some grubs and worms.

I pasture my Cornish cross. They don't get unlimited food for 12 hours a day, which is typical in the commercial setting. They get a weighed amount of grower feed, twice a day. They aren't ready to process at eight weeks, but they also aren't dying due to the health problems associated with their rapid growth. They're ready to process around 10 weeks, depending on how big we want them to be. If we have a lot of birds, we process a few at a time between 10 and 12 weeks old. This allows the smaller birds in the group some extra time to grow, meaning they are more uniform in size by the time they're in the freezer.

I'm not sure when, but I'm hoping in the near future I can begin offering these birds to others. I'm planning on ordering one more large batch, if not two, before winter hits. We'll have to see how things work out for us this year!

The pups finally got to go outside to the big pen to play with grandma Nutmeg and Interact with grandpa Tripper and Papa Koda through the fence. They were quite upset when we got hit with a spring rainstorm at dusk. But Oswald was still contemplating coming back out to play in the mud!

I'll tell you; I was SO excited to do Easter themed pictures with these pups. I had a cute Easter basket, fabric, plastic eggs, everything. But then we had spring, and we started seeds. Then snow came, and chicks came in. Easter went by. More snow came. At six weeks old they got their first vaccines and dewormed. And all the sudden we're here at seven weeks and I just finished taking pictures of everyone.

At least I got them done! These pups are the second litter out of Snowball and Koda. I only plan to have two more litters out of this pair. The resulting puppies are very colorful, and should be very smart. They already are very inquisitive, always watching, always wanting attention, and always learning. These guys were born on March tenth and will be ready to go home May fifth.

We have our first eggs of the year!! Anyone who knows anything about hens and their winter vacation also knows how exciting this is. It's one of our earliest signs of spring!

I'm counting down the days to tap trees, start seedlings and get chicks! I'm planning for Penticton Place to move in a different direction this year; finally making fresh, healthy, and affordable local food. I'm planning to have whole pastured chickens available at various times this year.

Isabella is our last Puggle pup. Although the last one always gets extra love and attention, she doesn't think it will ever be enough. This girl sports the beautiful tricolor of most beagles, down to the white tip on her tail. She is a mild, well mannered young lady who wants nothing more than to be by your side. Or on your lap as long as she has a snack.

🤫
An hour playing in the sun today.
These Fourth of July puppies will be available August 27th.
Six girls and two boys. The giant boy taking a nap in his food (typical for him) is already spoken for.

Charlie has been shedding a lot and therefore is super itchy! He's taking advantage of the floor brushes I mounted exactly for this issue.

P.s We may have some pups in July! 😁

While winter doesn't want to go over easy, our girls are scrambling to lay. We've been getting an egg-cellent amount of eggs day after day. On the sunny side, there's plenty available if you'd like to pay.

Rhymes and puns in one, I always knew I should have been a writer. 😉 On a side note, we are in need of empty cartons. Pm for price, only available to those located in or around Medford, Wisconsin.

Tracker (right) and Pepper (left) are our last two puggle puppies. They're 3 months old, and getting some extra attention these days. Tracker is a little more adventurous than his brother, but you can always find Pepper wondering just behind him. They're both happy to jump on the couch with you for a nap, or attempt any little trick for a treat. Message me if you want more information on these boys!
