Welcome home Milo! Milo is a Tetraodon MBU Puffer! Although he is young yet, Milo is of the largest freshwater puffers, some reaching up to two feet in length! The MBU Puffer originates from the middle and lower sections of the Congo River in Africa, as well as the east coast of Lake Tanganyika near the Malagarasi River mouth! Everyone give it up for Milo! 🐑😍

In the 210 gallon we run two (2) Fluval FX6 canister filters, each Flux FX6 filter has its own Fluval fxUVC filter lined in to the hosing to prevent any and all algae growth or regrowth after removal . One filter holds the role of mechanical filtration with a slight bit of chemical filtration, while the other holds the role of chemical filtration with a slight bit of mechanical filtration! As far as mechanical filtration set ups for the the first Fluval FX6 goes, this is one of the most efficient builds we have found believe it or not, and jam packs biomedia capacity while maximizing mechanical filtration! I will run through the internal components of the first filter! I will also list the internal components with their brand, purpose and pricing to finish off! 😁

Beneath the Tray Tower (Internal Filter Ring: The bottom ring inside of the canister filter housing is lined with β€œEheim Mech” pre-filter rings to trap large particles before beginning the stages of filtration.

1st Tray (Bottom Tray): The bottom tray is lined with a coarse foam, and an inter medium foam around the inter first tray compartment. The inter first tray compartment is fully loaded with a mix of β€œBiohome Ultimate Biomedia” and β€œSeachem Matrix Biomedia.

2nd Tray (Middle Tray): The middle tray AGAIN, is lined with a coarse foam, and an inter medium foam around the inter second tray compartment. The inter second tray compartment AGAIN, is fully loaded with a mix of β€œBiohome Ultimate Biomedia” and β€œSeachem Matrix Biomedia.”

3rd Tray (Top Tray): The top tray AGAIN, is lined with a coarse foam, and an inter medium foam around the inter third tray compartment. Inside the third tray inter compartment in order of stacking from top to bottom, we have one Fluval Phosphate Remove pad, one Fluval ClearMax pouch, Two Fluval Activated Carbon pouches, and one layer of fine foam as a final step in filtration.

Internal Components List & Pricing

-Coarse Foam (Black Foam): This is just standard coarse pond filter foam. Coarse foam filters out larger debris like food, fish waste, and plant matter. (Amazon bought as set with medium foam $20.99)
-Medium Foam (Blue Foam): This is just standard medium pond filter foam. Medium foam filters out smaller debris that coarse foam may have missed. (Amazon bought as set with Coarse foam $20.99)
-Fine Foam (White Foam): This is a Fluval Quick Clear pad. Fine foam filters out the finest particles. (Amazon 3pk $12.60)
-Fluval Phosphate Remove Pad (Green Pad): Designed to remove phosphates from aquarium water, which can be harmful to fish and other aquatic life. (Amazon 3pk $8.99)
- Fluval ClearMax Pouch (Brown Grain Pouch): Designed to remove phosphates, nitrites, and nitrates from the aquarium water, which can be harmful to fish and other aquatic life. (Amazon 3pk $6.65)
-Fluval Activated Carbon Pouch (Black Grain Pouch): Designed to remove odors, discoloration, and impurities from aquarium water. (Amazon 3pk $8.95)
-Eheim Mech Pre-Filter (Rings): Designed to trap large particles in aquarium. (Amazon 5L Bucket $59.99)
-Seachem Matrix Biomedia (White Biomedia): Porous Biomedia designed to house beneficial bacteria and remove nitrogenous waste from aquarium water. (Amazon 4L Bucket $35.05)
-Biohome Ultimate Media (Burgundy Biomedia): High-quality Sintered Glass Biomedia designed to remove ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates from aquarium water. (Amazon 5lb Bag $85.99)

Most of these internal components are able to be washed in ONLY cycles tank water when conducting maintenance to be reused, but some must be replaced during routine filter maintenance.

Tonight Cora (9) did her very own 45% water change on our Super Red Dragon (SRD) Flower Horn tank! Cora measured out her chemicals to a β€œT”

πŸ”΄ 6ml of Seachem Prime were dosed to remove chlorine, chloramine, and detoxify ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. Seachem Prime is non-acidic and will not impact PH.

πŸ”΅ 15ml of Seachem Stability were dosed to condition the water with aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria which facilitate the breakdown of waste organics, ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. Bacteria employed by stability is non sulfur fixing and will not produce toxic hydrogen Sulfide.

In addition, our sweet girl Priscilla has endured an eye injury resulting in β€œpop-eye.” Cora has medicated the tank properly.

11 level scoops of KanaPlex were added. KanaPlex is a blended kanamycin based medication that safely and effectively treats several fungal, and bacterial fish diseases (dropsy, popeye, fin/tail rot, septicemia).

Way to go Cora! Show this girl some love! 🐠😍

Hello everyone! Meet Dart! Dart is a 6” Red Tail Shark who is definitely not camera shy! Dart swims at every opportunity he gets to tread in the spotlight! Red tail sharks are freshwater fish that are native to Thailand and Cambodia. They are found in slow-moving rivers, streams, and other bodies of water that have a lot of vegetation. These fish are known for their aggressive behavior and territorial nature, which makes them a popular choice for aquarium enthusiasts. 🦈🌊

Meet Walter White!☣️ Walter is a Kamfa Flowerhorn (male!) Around 2000 to 2001, the Kamfa variety appeared. These were hybrids of any type of flowerhorn crossed with any species of the genus Vieja or with any parrot cichlid. These brought in some new traits, such as short mouths, wrapped tails, sunken eyes, and increasingly larger head bumps. Give it up for this shining stud!🐠😍

Super Red Texas & Vieja Melanurus Hybrid! She drops in at about 11” and is coloring up very nicely! 🐠😍

The Texas cichlid is the only cichlid species native to the United States of America and it is often found in aquariums where it is loved for its beautiful features!

The Vieja Melanurus is a species of cichlid that is native to the Lake PetΓ©n system, the Grijalva–Usumacinta River basin and other Atlantic river drainages in southern Mexico, Belize and Guatemala, with introduced populations in a few other countries!
