Christmas is coming and Santa is all ready to go. He followed animal travel laws in the US and got the reindeer cleared for their trip on Sunday.

We just wanted to give our pet owners some more information about the respiratory disease that has made the national new recently. I have attached an article from NPR interviewing several veterinarians discussing the information that we have. Hopefully this will give people some peace of mind.

Reports of an "outbreak" of some as yet unidentified canine respiratory illness are scaring dog owners. But veterinarians and researchers aren't panicking.

We are a small animal and equine veterinary clinic seeking a self-motivated and outstanding full-time veterinary technician/assistant. Seeking an individual with great communication and customer service skills able with willingness to cross train with other duties including but not necessarily limited to receptionist duties. We are looking for a motivated and friendly team member to answer phones, greet clients and help provide excellent pet health care. Experience is a bonus, but we will train the right applicant.

A veterinary technician must be able to provide assistance and support the staff in the operation of a small animal facility in accordance with hospital policy and procedures and provide medical care to patients as allowed in the veterinary practice act. While under the supervision of the veterinarian and practice manager. A veterinary technician must be able to effectively and accurately perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:

Veterinary Care:
Provide patient care under the direction of a DVM.
Maintain excellent client communication.
Be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to: laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.
Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms and accurate information.
Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully it will be necessary to become proficient in the use of the practice management software (EZYVet).

Special Working Conditions:
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds, and over 50 pounds with a co-worker.
Endure sitting, standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods.
Ability to be confident around pets.
Able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.
Requires sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform duties while in a hospital environment.
Employee is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
Must be able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members. Bilingual speakers would be beneficial.

The ticks are out in our area. Dr. Mason found one crawling on her neck last night after chasing a goat around in a field. We have Lyme in our area and it can cause severe disease. We have Nexgard for prevention and do carry lyme vaccinations also. Give us a call if you have questions or would like to make an appointment for vaccination.

We are a mixed animal practice in Southern Oregon, looking for an associate. We do mostly small animals but if you want more Large Animal we can make that happen. Experience is preferred but we are open to mentoring a new graduate. Southern Oregon is a beautiful location with many recreational opportunities. Salary is negotiable.
