The zoo will be open next Monday for Labor Day from 10am - 5pm, then we will be switching to fall hours. We will be closed on Tuesdays and open from 10am - 2pm on Wednesdays. The hours for the rest of the week will remain the same.

We are looking for a part-time reptile keeper for both Saturdays and Sundays. Hours are 9am - 5:30pm. If you would like to apply, email your resume to [email protected] Need to have some animal care experience and guest/register experience. The job is part animal care (with amphibians, reptiles, birds, fish and inverts) and part guest interactions and checking guests in and out. The animal care part includes some heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing ladders, bending over into exhibits, and need to not have allergies to dust from the sand or hay for the tortoises.

The zoo is open normal hours today and tomorrow. On the 1st, we will be opening an hour later at 11am and be open until 5pm. This baby Bearded Dragon decided he was the king of the hill. Haha

The alligators don’t know it’s not spring outside yet so they have been calling at the zoo this week!

We will be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving day but open regular hours Friday and the weekend. The tortoises can’t have pumpkin pie but definitely love pumpkins!

Happy Earth 🌎 The alligators wanted you to know how important it is to help the planet so they were bellowing to tell you to do something this weekend to help the planet. The snakes 🐍 and gators 🐊 get fed on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Come check them out this weekend.

The Sailfin Lizard was so cute bobbing her head to let me know that she wasn’t going to share her salad with me!

When you enjoy your food so much that you get it all over your face. These Spur-thighed Tortoises sure do love their salads! 🥬 🥕

This is the first time we have seen our male Asian Leaf Turtle flirting with his girlfriend. This courtship is similar to the Painted Turtles (where the males tickle the females under the chin with their front nails). So sweet💗

With winter approaching, the year is coming to an end for our Minnesota frogs. In warmer states many of the frogs are fall breeders. We recently observed this huge chorus of squirrel tree frogs in North Central Florida. Here’s one of the males calling like crazy trying to attract a mate.

We will be open 10 - 5 on Saturday, we are closing early on the 4th at 3pm and we will be open 10 - 5 on Monday. Our friend’s Red-eyed Tree Frogs hatched yesterday. Too many tadpoles to count 💗

Our friend Khole, with MN Exotics, had his Red-eyed Tree Frogs lay eggs last week. Watch carefully and you can see some wiggle. Once one moves, a few others move. So adorable 💗

We have a pair of Barn Swallows that decided to build their nest above the door at the zoo. I got a few seconds of video but then the parents spotted me and came over to yell at me. The other adults nearby came over to yell too. Two Swallows turned into eight really quick. Haha
