It was another good week in Sedalia last week. It was a deep set of Suffolks this year for the NASSS National Suffolk Sale. As always big thanks goes out to Andrew Slack, Colby Tool, and Tommy Slack for all of the fitting of our consignment. Also thanks to all of the lovely young ladies that they somehow continue to coax into helping year after year with fitting and showing. They all worked their tails off all week and made the sheep look their best. Thank you also to all of the bidders and buyers of our sheep we are humbled by your belief in our breeding program. Good luck with your purchases. Last but not least special thanks to Kip K***z for taking us with to see a Kansas City Royals baseball game.

Had a chance to get some sheep cut out Tuesday. Thanks to Andrew Slack for making the trip down and working on them. Our Midwest Sale Consignment will come out of this group. We are just not quite sure who will make the trip to Sedalia yet. Check back over the next few days as we will continue to add some photos and information.

Had a chance to get a few pictures of some of our lamb crop for 2024 last weekend. Most of these are January born lambs. We will see how they continue to develop over the next few months.

Congratulations to Jerry Baumgartner and his grandkids for an excellent showing at the All American Junior Show. It was also the National Junior Suffolk Show held in Madison, Wisconsin this year. Some of the lambs the kids showed were sired by Keever 2116 that Jerry purchased from us at the 2022 Midwest Stud Ram Sale as a yearling ram. Those included the 1st place February fitted ram lamb. 5th and 7th January fitted ewe lambs. 3rd place February fitted ewe lamb as well. The February ewe lamb was also Reserve Champion Fitted Suffolk ewe at the Great Plains Junior Breeding Sheep Show in Sioux Falls, SD for Jillyan Baumgartner the week before the All American.

To say we had a great week in Sedalia last week would be an understatement. It was an incredible week and very humbling. We thought going in that we had a nice set of sheep to offer but never would have believed they would do as well as they did. Not only did the sheep do well but we were honored to also win the Suffolk best consignment award as well as the Nick and Ron Annuschat Memorial best Suffolk consignment traveling plaque. Nick and Ron were two of the best Suffolk breeders in the country and it was very humbling to win an award in their memory. Special thanks as always to Andrew Slack, Joey Slack and Colby Tool for all their fitting and helping get the sheep shown and through the auction block. Thanks also to all the bidders and buyers of our sheep. We wish you the best of luck with your purchases.

Now that lambing is over we will be getting sheep cut out soon to put together another consignment for the Midwest Sale in June. Stayed tuned for pictures and info on what we will have for the sale this year. We finished lambing with a nice single ram lamb out of “Mountain Smoke” and the K Slack 2150 ewe from Sedalia last summer. He looks to be an interesting prospect to see how he develops this summer. Born March 20. Also look for some information on a new stud ram heading to Illinois in a few weeks.

We hope everyone is off to a good start with lambing. We have just started. This lamb at the feeder was born January 10 and is a full brother to our January ram from Sedalia last summer that sold for $1,000. He is by the Quam ram and the ewe standing next to him is his mother. We bred her back the same way this year and she had twin ram lambs.
