This is one of three red lambs we have had this season- not a color we typically have!

This little lady reminds me a lot of the first sheep we ever purchased- Molly. Molly is the grandmother of this lamb and was one of the first “farm animals” we purchased. Molly has been our main milking sheep all these years later and is still going strong on the Ranch, but this will likely be one of Molly’s last breeding seasons. It’s really lovely to see this little gal look so much like her knowing Molly is getting up there in age. I hope this lamb gets Molly’s good udder and milking genetics 🧬

Our oldest daughter decided to name this lamb Bonny as she will be a keeper for us!

It’s lambing season!!! ❤️ My favorite season!

We have had 7 lambs in the last 3 days and we woke up this morning to a set of triplets and another ewe in labor!

Betsy gave birth to the triplets and she her self is one of a set of triplets, although this is her first set.

We will supplement these babies over the next week to make sure they get enough milk as Besty’s milk supply adjusts to meet the demand of having an extra lamb to feed. She is a great mom and is currently caring for all three lambs, which are all good size and pretty even in size which isn’t always the case with multiples.

We had a little surprise this morning! 💕

We have one ewe that is off cycle from the others and always gives a Christmas baby! She is a small ewe, never looks pregnant (I don’t know how this giant baby fit in that tiny mama!), she also doesn’t bag up much so it catches us off guard. Farmer Matt and I even eyed this ewe last week and talked about if we though she would have another December baby.

This is the second year, so fool me twice and all that…

The good thing is that lambs are super hardy and cold tolerant. They basically dry off instsntly because of their wool, so they always do well even when born on snowy days like today. He was up walking around on unstable legs and wagging his tail while nursing when we came out.

We have this tree… a 10 ft gorgeous blue toned Noble Fir. It is a truly lovely tree, and the biggest one we have ever had.

It needs to be in someone’s living room all decorated with ornaments and presents under it. 🎁 ❤️🌲

It is priced as an 8-9ft tree at $179 so it is a great deal. Message me if you are interested and we will hold it for it for you.

This is not an uncommmon find in the wintertime. 😱

This is my tub.
This is also a wad of hay in the bottom of my tub.
This is the glamorous side of owning a farm.

Why is there a wad of hay in the bottom of your tub, you may ask? Well, this is the result of the kids completing (or partially completing) their farm chores.

Our oldest was sick today but still fed and watered her bunnies, which required her to fill some water from the tub (she doesn’t like using the frost-free spicket in the winter because they are harder to turn on when it is cold) so she fills her bucket in our tub with warm water.

She also took this opportunity to possibly rinse her bucket or perhaps some hay fell from the bottom of the bucket, either way this ‘treat’ was left behind. Am I proud of her for doing the work, despite feeling under the weather? Yes. Am I still shocked that this is the state of my life? Occasionally, yes.

Tonight, farmer Matt and I went to bed chuckling- people often remark that we are living their dream… I doubt this is what they have in mind but this is what the reality looks like most of the time.
