Anything helps … Crusoe is right, while we focus on the commercially driven non-breed specific impact of PRA (minimal on the dachshund breed) we are not campaigning for more focus on IVDD, its prevention (at least don’t spay/neuter your dogs until growth plates close 18 months-ish) and cure. Donating here helps the cause. 1/4 Dachshund dd is affected. ❤️♥️💥🧡🔥🧨💣🍀

**I am not saying we should breed PRA Affected dogs- I am saying- as dachshund lovers we need to promote more focus on ivdd and any donation helps!

When Clifford was born, I didn’t think he was alive … I suctioned him, dried him off, wrapped him in a warm towel and set him aside to help his Momma.

Then I glanced down and he was breathing - all 3.5+ ounces of him (in the earlier pictures he is barely bigger than my thumb). I Placed him with Momma and his siblings … and his journey began.

He couldn’t latch, of course.

We tube and bottle fed him. He gained so slowly; human mommy Jenna picked him out right away(he always had a beautiful Wildwynn head and full coat), stuck with him, cheered for him and look at him now … at 6 months, he is 8 pounds and a gorgeous image of Daddy Charlie and a bit of momma too.

We called him Clifford, tongue in cheek, the Big Red Dog … it stuck!

He has a giant white chest, four white tipped paws and Mommy Jenna and brother Johnnie Walker’s heart! ♥️
