Please share far and wide! We would love any tack donations (do not have to be clean - we have lots of pony club kids well experienced in cleaning tack!). If possible, tack drop offs prior to 8/1 would be especially appreciated as that will give our kids time to get it all cleaned up prior to the sale. Thanks so much for your continued support!

Our on-site stalls are all reserved for the our 8/11 mini trial. We do have some off site options. Please contact me at [email protected] if you need an off site stall. Thanks everyone! We are really looking forward to a full and fun mini trial this year!

If you are coming to Remsen to hack or have a private xc schooling scheduled, please bring water with you. Our tank water has suddenly developed a very nasty smell and until we figure it out and get fresh water in there, we don't want anyone using it. Sorry and thanks.

Does anyone have a connection/recommendation for a tent/table/chairs rental in the Akron/Medina area? We are looking to rent a large party tent for our 60th Anniversary Party on Saturday, August 10 5-8pm. We are also looking for a discount printer to have some tri-fold brochures printed. We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit so can offer a tax donation letter for any discounted services/products. Please contact DeAnna Koch at [email protected] with any info. Thank you!

2024 TriState Region Pony Club Dressage and Show Jump Rallys were this past weekend at Chagrin Valley Farms. We are so proud of our kids. Check out all those red and blue ribbons in the group pics. They rode well, they performed well in horse management, they were kind and helpful to all the new members in the region and had a ton of fun doing it! Huge thanks to our coaches; Patrick Tompkins and Leigh Mooney for dressage and Christina Stamos and Susan Garside for Show Jump. We are so thankful we still have local trainers willing to give their time, energy and expertise to our program! We had quite a few qualify for USPC Championships in July at the Kentucky Horse Park (honestly lost track how many - sometimes herding cats gets a little overwhelming LOL)
One thing that happened that we did not have pics or videos of and I SO wish we had; in the upper SJ warm up ring, at the tail end of the day, the wind blew over a canopy tent.... across the warm up ring..... with 4 riders on horses in the ring... 3/4 were BPC kids. Completely understandably, those horses went bonkers; spooking/spinning/running. All 4 of those riders not only stayed on but had their horses back under control within seconds. It was one of the most amazing displays of horsemanship I think I have ever seen. And a huge testament to the strength of these kids' core riding skills!

Over the last two weeks, BPC has held two major USPC Certification ratings. We had 18 kids sitting for a total of 45 certification phases from D1 (the very beginning) to C2 (just shy of the start of National USPC Certifications C3 & HB). For those not familiar with USPC Certifications, our members are tested on 3 different phases: Unmounted Horse Management (knowledge), Riding on the Flat and Riding over Fences. USPC Standards of Proficiency are very hard after the D2 level and it is not unusual for members to fail certifications. We did not have a single failure!!! (A couple of minor sections that need to be re-tested (members are allowed to sit for a re-test within 6 months for 2 or less sections)). This is a HUGE testament to the quality of our instruction program, both mounted and unmounted. A special shout of thanks to our flat instructors, Patrick Tomkins and Ariel Wyatt, our jump instructor Christina Stamos, our JtDC Susan Garside who led the unmounted program, and many of our older members who helped our new/younger members throughout the process (Emily Garside, Celia and Nadia Otterstetter, Talie Koch, Greg and Suzy Gebhart, Jamie Saffles). One of the main tenants of the USPC model is peer leadership and teaching. Our older kids are expected to teach and mentor right from the start. This is the backbone of the production of quality equestrian leaders for the future. Thank you all for your continued support of our shows and activities. Without the community support, we could not do what we do!!

Some clarification on booking private cross country schooling:
I will need names and phone numbers for all riders attending, I will need a copy of the trainer's insurance certificate emailed 48 hours ahead OR there is a $30 non-refundable insurance fee that has to be paid on top of the $35 per rider schooling fee (just 1 $30 fee covers multiple riders for the day). We are very sorry to have to charge the insurance fee but USPC has a new insurance policy and our hands are tied on this. Safety vests, medical arm bands or bracelets, helmets, and a grounds person are all required as well. We do have a port-o-jon on site and a water tank for horse consumption only. If stalls are used for the day, they must be picked out and the manure thrown in the brush/w**ds behind the stalls. Also, if you notice any footing issues or broken jumps, please let me know. Thank you all for your support and have fun, safe rides!

Our cross country course is open for private schooling. We still have a few jumps to get out but we will be working on those this week. There are plenty to school and the footing is excellent. Please contact DeAnna Koch at [email protected] or (330)495-1358 at least 48 hours ahead to schedule.

Huge special thanks to those CT competitors who have contacted me to donate their entry fees! These shows provide the vast majority of our funding for all BPC's activities and without the support of our local equestrians, we could not continue as such a strong youth sports organization! Thank you, thank you! We are a 501 (c) 3 organization and if anyone needs a donation letter for tax purposes, please let me know.

04/24/2024

We wanted to wait until we had time to contact each of our competitors yesterday. BPC is sad to announce we are canceling our 5/5/24 Combined Test due to low entry numbers. All entries are being fully refunded (and receiving a free XC schooling entry). We thank our loyal competitors that did sign up and hope to see more at our August Mini Trial.

Our Combined Test is open for entries on evententries.com. Two exciting notes for this year: we have a recognized dressage judge booked and we will have a professionally designed show jump course for our show this year! Please note that if you have any issues with the on-line entering on evententries, Hannah from event entries is always happy to help. Consistent with most of our local show venues, BPC will be requiring a negative Coggins as well as proof of flu/Rhino vaccine within 6 months of 5/5/24. Hard copies of these need to be brought to the show office at packet pickup. Packets will not be given out without paper copies of Coggins and proof of vaccine being provided. If you have any questions related to the show itself, which division(s) or tests are being offered, etc please contact DeAnna Koch at [email protected]

A gentle reminder that there is absolutely no riding at Remsen other then on the gravel, gas company roads. Our grounds are literally under water in some areas at the moment and even a horse walking on our gallop lanes is going to cause some major holes. Please help us save our footing so we can have a great season of cross country!

An Introduction to Bath Pony Club

Bath Pony Club (BPC) is a chapter within the TriState Region of the United States Pony Club (USPC). We are based at 141 Remsen Rd (Allardale Park) in Medina, Ohio. We are active Feb-Oct. We generally have between 35-40 members, ranging from 7-25 years old with the majority in the 10-16 age range. Our kids come from multiple school districts and varying types of equestrian backgrounds.
Pony Club is not just a mounted lesson program. We have unmounted, horse knowledge activities that run throughout our season. We teach everything related to horses from proper horse care, maintaining safe equipment, proper nutrition, bandaging, tack cleaning, trailer safety, first aid, and much more. Our members are expected to attend both unmounted and mounted activities. We offer weekly mounted lessons that run from March to October. Our mounted lessons start indoors in March with flat/dressage work and in mid April, we transition outside to Remsen where we add jumping lessons in addition to dressage. Many of our members continue to take lessons and participate in outside training programs and use Pony Club as a supplement to their professional trainer's program. Our activities are always optional, and our members/parents all participate to varying degrees.
We hold 3 fundraising horse shows each year; a combined test (show jump and dressage) in April, and two mini trials (dressage, show jump and cross country) in early August and early October. We have various riding clinics with visiting clinicians each year besides our normal weekly lessons. These clinics are either free or offered at a highly reduced rate for our members. In addition, we participate in regional Pony Club rallys (Quiz in April (unmounted horse knowledge), Games in May, Show Jump and Dressage in June, Tetrathlon and Eventing in September). We also hold two camps each year; an upper level camp for ages 14+ and an all member fun camp. We are a completely volunteer run organization so every member and parents are expected to put in volunteer hours doing such things as setting up jumps, w**d whipping, mowing, painting, concessions, jump judging, ring stewards, etc.

Below is the Mission Statement and Core Values from the USPC that summarizes our philosophy very well.
Mission:
The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. is an educational organization that builds the foundations of teamwork and sportsmanship through riding, mounted sports, and the care of horses and ponies, while developing and enhancing leadership, confidence, responsibility, and a sense of community in its youth and adult members.

Core Values:
Horsemanship with respect to healthcare, nutrition, stable management, handling, and riding a mount safely, correctly and with confidence.
Organized teamwork, including cooperation, communication, responsibility, leadership, mentoring, teaching, and fostering a supportive, yet competitive, environment.
Respect for the horse and self through horsemanship, for land through land conservation, and for others through service and teamwork.
Service by providing an opportunity for members, parents, and others to support the Pony Club program locally, regionally, and nationally through volunteerism.
Education at an individual pace to achieve personal goals and expand knowledge.

For more general information about USPC, please visit www.ponyclub.org. If you would like more information about Bath Pony Club specifically, please email DeAnna Koch at [email protected].

12/06/2023

Save the Date: Sunday August 11 will be our Bath Horse Show Mini Trial. Stay tuned for a schooling show/clinic in late April/early May and our Sept/Oct show(s) to be announced in early January.
