Maia’s Surprise! 🥹💕❤️

Our family farm has been experiencing so many incredible “firsts” lately, and we are beyond excited to finally share this one with you! 🥹❤️ Maia the wallaby has given us the most amazing surprise - AGAIN! ❤️❤️❤️ When Maia joined our family farm over a year ago, we had no idea what a journey she was about to take us on. Not long after her arrival, we discovered she had a hidden treasure in her pouch - a tiny joey already growing! That joey turned out to be Casper, our beautiful albino wallaby, who is now about a year old. 🤍 We were overjoyed and thought the surprises were over for a while… but Maia had other plans! 🥰💝 Over the last couple of months, we started noticing little movements in Maia’s pouch - tiny twitches and shifts that had us wondering. Naturally, we took a peek, and to our absolute amazement, there was ANOTHER tiny joey growing inside! We could not believe it!!! But how is this even possible?! Wallabies have a fascinating ability called embryonic diapause, which allows them to pause the development of an embryo until conditions are just right. Unlike humans, who have one uterus, wallabies have two uteri, allowing them to manage multiple pregnancies at different stages. Maia likely mated before joining our family, and while Casper was still growing in her pouch, a second embryo was waiting in dormancy. Once Casper started venturing out, the dormant embryo resumed development - nature’s perfect timing! SO INCREDIBLE!!! And this week… we got our very first glimpse of Maia’s newest little one! As we let the kangaroos and wallabies out for their morning exercise, a tiny face peeked out of Maia’s pouch for the very first time, melting our hearts all over again. 🥹💕 Maia is such an incredible mom, and we are in awe of the wonders of wallaby biology! We feel so lucky! ❤️ Now, the big question - will this joey be brown like Maia and Juno… or will it be ALBINO like Casper?! 🥹❤️🤍 And even more

On the way to Coraline’s ultrasound!🥰💝 Our sweet Coraline recently had another checkup, and we’re so excited to share that all signs remain pointing to her uterus being full and a baby (or babies!) on the way! This journey has been such a special first-time experience for our family farm, as we prepare to welcome capybara babies for the very first time! In the video, you’ll see Charlie, one of our lovable dogs, tagging along to check on Coraline during her ultrasound. He always knows when someone could use a little extra comfort, and his calming presence brought just the reassurance Coraline needed. Also, Charlie and Coraline already happen to have a very special bond!🥰💕 Moments like these truly capture the love and care that fills our farm family!!! While we originally thought Coraline might deliver sooner based on early signs, we’ve learned that capybara pregnancies can be a little unpredictable. Since this is Coraline’s first pregnancy - and our first time experiencing this process - it’s been a learning journey for all of us. What we do know is that nature works on its own schedule, and Coraline will have her babies when the time is just right!❤️ In the meantime, Coraline is healthy, happy, and receiving all the love and care she deserves as we eagerly wait for her big moment.🥰💝 Thank you all for your continued patience, excitement, and kindness throughout this journey. Coraline is such a cherished part of our farm, and her well-being will always be our top priority.
