After a much needed hiatus, we’re back.
After nearly 12 years together, I had to lay my sweet baby Apollo to rest on NYE. He has been the love of my life and has shown me what true unconditional love is.. he loved everyone he met and was such a happy boy. He was my child.
I wanted a Dane for years and then I saw you one day.. “the runt of the litter” and I drove to Texas the very next day and instantly fell in love. You loved macaroni and cheese.. even over steak. You loved to lounge around and sometimes you even made me late to work because you wouldn’t get out of bed to go potty. The second I’d get out of bed, you’d instantly take over my spot and nestle into the pillows.
I knew it was his time and prayed that he’d pass in his sleep, as this was the single, hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, but he was in too much pain for me to wait any longer. Thankfully, it was still a peaceful passing without complications.
Even in his old age, he’d still get the zoomies and was still playful. I mean, his disposition, companionship and personality are some things I don’t think I’d ever have with any other dog. My house and heart feel so empty and Bender is clearly upset, which is also hard to see.
I will always have our memories.. there are just so many. He was always there for me. Even in the hardest of times, he’d always comfort me and gave me the will to live.
I’ll forever love and miss him.
