Poor Tom, he is our FIV+ boy that was trapped where he was living at a factory, he had pneumonia (complete with foul smelling green nasal discharge) and a nasty laceration to a back leg.
He recovered fabulously and was vaccinated, neutered, wormed and on flea and tick preventative.
He has gone from 8 # to 14.5 #.

He is the sweetest most mellow fellow!!
Loves being brushed, scratched and just hanging out with people❤️

Despite all of his amazing loving qualities and the latest research showing FIV+ cats can live with FIV- cats and live long healthy lives, he’s had zero interest in the months he’s been with us:(

He has also started having this skin issue on his face, scraping initially showed inflammation and infection, so we did a strong injectable antibiotic and cleansed with antimicrobial cleanser and applied ointment.
It seemed to begin to resolve, then it rebounded and it’s slowly spreading.
It doesn’t seem to bother him, no scratching or rubbing, it’s not bleeding or open more scaly etc.

He goes back to see Dr Housing at T&C Animal clinic tomorrow at 2 pm.

****We could use some help with the bill, or even better Tom could use a medical sponsor!! Can’t adopt or foster or worried about his FIV+ status BUT want to help, then you can SPONSOR Tom:)❤️******

He’s on a vet recommended supplement powder $25/month, special Purina one grain free extra hydration high protein food, and I am changing him from the blue buffalo chicken dry in case it’s a food allergy.

We need 5 new volunteers this week for a few hours of your time to help with online/media/flyer/email tasks. You do not need to be an expert. I just need some help. Message me on Alex Siska-Scarborough if you can help.
Thank you.

Piggy update.
Well we skipped ice cream and did shredded chicken and chicken skin, which he loves:)
I got to the vets and got the muzzle and sat in the backseat with Piggy and slowly for the muzzle on him.
He did so well at the vets they recommended we take it off, honestly I was not quite comfortable doing so, not until we were done with everything and back outside.
He is + for Lymes and started antibiotics for that, he got medicine packed down in his ear that is antibiotic and will absorb over 30 days.
He has 6 days worth of pain meds for the ear and joints, continue supplements.
Piggy has also had stress induced fly bite or focal seizures, very short and he stares, drools and bites at the air, he’s had 3 abs only with high stress so vets say monitor and see, no need to medicate at this time.
So he we have to be careful with HW and flea and tick preventative. He has been taking Heartguard and will continue it.

He’s had a snack and walked with my crew and met everyone again and went to his bed sent with him from Kim and Dusty and his blanket and passed out❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sweet momma Claire took right to the 2 4 day old kittens, the finder did decide to keep one and continue bottle feeding him. What a good momma cat! As you can see her kittens are almost 1 month old❤️

I want to clarify that we do not decline help, but we will not send one of our dogs to a rescue that cannot be verified or whose mission does not align with ours. At Cleo’s Legacy, our commitment to our dogs is lifelong—we do whatever it takes to ensure their well-being. Just as with any partnership, we have to ensure that a collaboration is a good fit. I will not put an animal at risk, especially one that already has particular needs.

With the rise in scam posts and people stealing our content, we take extra precautions. If it ever came to discussing a transfer, we would first verify that the rescue is legitimate. Certain red flags include donation platforms that are not charity-verified when they could be, or a rescue name that doesn’t appear in the IRS nonprofit database as provided.

Unfortunately, another rescue has chosen to attack us simply because we declined to transfer a dog to them. The fact is, we don’t do transfers—we are a rescue, and we stand by our mission. We respect that every rescue operates differently, and we will continue to run Cleo’s Legacy in the way that best serves the animals in our care. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization, and we’ve worked hard to build something different—because different is needed.

Welllll he’s coming back, turns out he doesn’t like living with other male dogs:(

He loves people and is great with cats and living with other female dogs and can be around other males for visits, just no living with other males.
