Our community garden is a collaborative growing space where members of the community can help to cultivate a 1/2 acre plot of land to produce vegetables, fruits and even native

edibles. The Community garden is located in the back of The Yoga Garden (off of Bud Yeager Drive) and run collaboratively by The Yoga Garden and Verdi Eco School.

VOLUNTEER WORK TRADE 🧑‍🌾
Today! And every Wednesday 9-11am

Come and join us in the dirt!

For your time spent assisting us in the garden, we happily offer some yoga credits! Volunteers often leave with new knowledge and some garden harvest. Right now, we are harvesting a TON of mulberries and papaya.

(There will be other opportunities pending activities in the garden. If you would like to volunteer regularly, but your schedule doesn't allow you to attend the hours listed above, we can arrange something for you that is more convenient . )

This wks focus is on the Radish. Radishes are rich in antioxidants and minerals like calcium and potassium. Together, these nutrients help lower high blood pressure and reduce your risks for heart disease. The radish is also a good source of natural nitrates that improve blood flow.
We just planted these in our vegetable garden. One of the easiest plants to grow in Florida and they taste delicious 😋

This wks focus is on *Candlestick senna*
* Cassia alata*

Candlestick Senna is a showy addition to any garden. The large green leaves will fold up at night, and it will typically bloom from spring to fall. Candlestick Cassia gets its name from the large upright yellow flowers that resemble candles. As a native to Central and South America, We recommended growing Candlestick Cassia in well-maintained garden beds or as a potted plant to avoid aggressive seeding.

Several butterflies use Candlestick Cassia as a host plant. The Sleepy Orange, Cloudless Sulphur, and Orange-barred Sulphur will all visit Cassia plants to lay eggs. Look for green or yellow butterfly larvae on flowers, leaves, and stems. The yellow flowers will attract butterflies to nectar. Plant a Candlestick Cassia this year and see what visitors it will bring to your garden!
