Furever Companions Care, LLC

Furever Companions Care, LLC Dr. Cafiero is a compassionate and kind local veterinarian with 8 years experience in private practice.

With her passion in pain management and alternative medicine, she envisioned her own house-call practice to bring these services to the home. Dr. "Julie" Cafiero has always had a passion for animals from childhood. She dreamt of becoming a veterinarian from the age of 5 years old. Prior to achieving her dream, she spent 1 year after college working as a veterinary technician. That was her first ex

posure to alternative medicine for animals. It was this very experience that shaped her true passion for acupuncture and veterinary spinal manipulation. In practice as a doctor and trained veterinary acupuncturist, she saw first hand the benefits of these modalities in geriatric care. She was determined to bring this treatment option to pets in need, in the comfort of their own home given the harsh reality that many of these pets in need have no easy access to transport to a facility. Her passion, dedication to animals and determination is what paved the road for her to open Furever Companions Care, LLC, an alternative medicine housecall practices for pets.

We’ve been so busy the last month, between new clients, holiday festivities and the Woof, Wag and Wiggle Event, that we haven’t posted any updates in awhile.
We are so excited to see W***y’s continued determination to walk again. Last week was a PIVOTAL step in his recovery. His mom and Dr. Julie did some amazing research and dived into a new stem cell therapy treatment.
AniCell is a stem cell product that can be safely administered into acupuncture points to help treat certain conditions. We did our very FIRST treatment on W***y last week! We are hoping to see an amazing response and a continued healing journey for our little dachshund friend.

This week’s patient of the week, is Dr. Julie’s own kitty, Fluffy.
She is a 13 year old domestic shorthair, with stable early kidney disease and pancreatitis. She was notably normal last night. Upon waking up this morning, it was apparent something was wrong.
Fluffy’s coordination was all off, she was falling to the right and very wobbly. After a neurologic exam and spinal manipulation, she is tentatively diagnosed with idiopathic vestibular disease. She is being treated with conventional medicine, including a round of antibiotics and steroids. Here in the picture, she is receiving dry needling acupuncture for ataxia and vestibular disease after adjusting her neck.
We hope to see her make a full recovery over the course of 1-4 weeks.

This week’s patient of the week is, Dolly.
Dolly is a 12 year old Siamese who was surrendered by her original owners. Dolly has loads of personality and loves FOOD. She has early kidney disease and inflammatory bowel disease. She takes medicine daily to prevent vomiting and upset stomach.
Today was her first acupuncture treatment. The hope with treatment, is to get better regulation of her stomach issues. Steroids can be helpful, but also harmful. She still has some episodes even with her medicine on board. With acupuncture, the hope is to have less break through vomiting spells, and maybe in time the ability to decrease the dose of her medicine.

Dr. Julie wants to share Timothy’s story. Timothy is the poster kitty for Furever Companions Care. He is Dr. Julie’s star case and very first miracle patient. His amazing response to therapy became the driving force for her passion for alternative medicine, and the push for her to bring these therapies to other pets in the comfort of their home.

Timothy was a stray kitten that was rescued. He had unknown trauma and many injuries. Despite his primary veterinarian repairing his broken leg, he was still completely paralyzed in all 4 legs.

Timothy’s rescuer brought him into Dr. Julie for acupuncture after it was found that he suffered from severe injury to his neck. They both were not optimistic he would ever walk, but were willing to try. After only 3 acupuncture treatments, Timothy not only was able to potty on his own, but he actually was able to walk and run for the very first time on his own.

Dr. Julie and his rescuer, Virginia, became good friends during his recovery. Now Dr. Julie gets the privilege to watch his beautiful life over the years.

Dr. Julie’s first official act under Furever Companions Care, was to volunteer her time to work alongside the Cape Canaveral Coast Guard on the care of their mascot Chance.

Chance suffers from arthritis and suspected hip dysplasia. He is a big teddy bear who works for food. The next step in his path to improved quality of life, is to set up his treatment plan for acupuncture and spinal manipulation to relieve some of the discomfort he is experiencing with his joints.
