Feline Friday is Apricot!

This affectionate hunk spent most of his life outside and is now looking for a nice retirement home with lots of soft blankets and head scratches. His ears are permanently flat from fights during his unneutered days (that he probably didn't win), and he is FIV+, as many older outdoor male cats end up.
He is good at setting his boundaries with other cats gently and will get along with another cat or kitten fine.

Phoenix is a friendly 6 month old girl. She loves people, gets a little nibbly in her excitement and either needs a friend at home or an owner who is committed to deterring the behavior.

Feline Friday is Chives!

Chives has a lot to say! Much of it is about breakfast.
This guy loves attention and to play and really needs a larger cat to tussle with. He doesnt do well with young children, but warms up to most adults relatively quickly.

If youve come in to see us you might have been greeted and/or side eyed by Benson. One of our permanent residents, best friends with Keri, and a man of slient meows. Yesterday he had a dental (which during the car ride he rubbed his nose raw on thd carrier) and is now recoving in a cage (which he also hates) with lots of wet food (which he loves).
Send some good vibes for our best dude during his recovery trapped in a cage he is desperate to escape!

Feline Friday are Peter and Bobby (and yes we are open today)!

Peter and Bobby are brothers who have been together their whole lives in what was probably a quiet home. Both of their owners succumbed to illnesses and they ended up with us. Otherwise, we dont know much about their background outside of they are 4 years old and these names from their microchip aren't the names they were called.
They are adjusting to the shelter at their own pace, Peter likes to meow a lot, Bobby hid in a covered cat bed, but is easily won over by cat treats.
Peter has a little nub of a tail, while Bobby has no tail and his back legs are a little bit weaker compared to most cats. He is getting around well with exception of some of the longer jumps, but often makes up for it with his stronger front legs and shoulders. He has not had any issues with his litter box usage with us.

Also, if you are into picking up a bunch of tiny branches and sweeping some pathways let us know we could use a volunteer or two to do it!

As with most businesses in the area, we will be closed to the public and hunkering down for the storm Wednesday and Thursday. Depending on damage and power outages, we will possibly be open again Friday.

Here at HSSB, we have a building for cats that don't do well in louder, higher populated cat-crowded environments, FIV+ cats, and ferals who don't like humans. We call it The Cottage. Unfortunately, the flooring in there is in need of replacement. We are hoping to raise funds for some cost effective, waterproof flooring to keep our shyer guys in a safe environment. Your donations will help us create a clean and comfortable home for these very much loved cats, some of whom are life long residents. Thank you for your kindness!

Feline Friday is BB!

BB is big and sassy, she is vocal and soaks up all the love and attention!
She came from a large group of cats living with their owners in a garage, so while she can coexist with other cats, she would love to be the center of attention and would be fine in a home all her own.
She's probably 5-6 years old and deserves to live a nice quiet life in an air conditioned home on a lap of someone she loves.

Feline Friday is Penny!

Penny is a sassy, year old calico. She's very forward and is one of the first to greet people that come in. She is very active and loves to play. She lived with younger children before, but does give love bites, so we'd recommend older kids for her.
She is used to being the queen of the castle as an only kitten, until her family was evicted and she ended up with us. Because of the sudden stressful change of environment, she's had a flare up of herpes in her eyes and is currently on eye drops. It should calm down once she's in a place of her own. If youre looking for a lap cat with a big personality and lots of entertaining antics, come meet her Wednesday through Sunday noon to 3, Saturday noon to 4.

Feline Friday are Baby and Greyson (again)!

These brothers were adopted earlier this year, but were sadly brought back because one child in the family was allergic (Claritin is a help, not a cure!). The family couldn't speak highly enough of them, they are wonderfully cuddly boys. Baby is still the brave one, and Greyson is still the shy but sweet one.

Feline Friday are Omelette and Hashbrown!

These boys were brought to us with their mother and sister, everyone was kinda skittish and spent some time in a foster home being exposed to a 10 year old and a large dog.
While they have improved a lot they still have some stranger danger but are enjoying cuddles with humans more and more.
They love some back scratches and churus, but love running around and wrestling more than anything.

Feline Friday is Gray!

Gray spent most of his life outside and is spending most of his time inside, hiding. We think he would do best as a barn cat. Barn cats are cats that are allowed outside but are still given vet care and supplemental feeding, and a places to hide from the elements. Gray is a friendly guy and will be a outdoor buddy and pest deterrent, he will still require a daily allotment of head pets.

Feline Friday are Archer and Simnia

Archer (tabby and white, male) and Simnia (lynx point, female) met at the shelter and really even each others personalities out.
Archer is a rambunctious boy with a chattering meow he uses a lot. Hes loves to play, but can be too rough with kittens smaller than him, but he's great when he plays with Simnia.
Simnia is a shy, nervous little girl, but with people shes familiar with, during quiet times, she becomes a sweet lap girl.
While they arent related, and met at the shelter, they love to cuddle together and chase each other around and have become best friends. We'd love to see then stay together in a home with a experienced cat owner.
