I'm Looking for puppy classes!!!!
I know this is a stretch but hoping someone knows someone. I have hundreds of "friends" on here so lets see....
For those that don't really know me, I am a retired dog trainer - been retired about 2 years, and I have people reaching out trying to find a good puppy class. The need seems to be growing. One of the places I referred too has closed. I also know " What a Great dog" but they are a little far for some.
Please do not comment with negative comments but this is what I am looking for:
1. someone near McKinney/Allen area (Sherman is fine too)
2. someone who is certified through CCPDT or an accredited Force free/positive reinforcement equivalent or has several hundred hours (preferably) of positive based training/courses and has studied how dogs actually learn (understands association).
3. someone who does not use punishment based training in any way including: shock, prong, yelling, leash pops, intimidation or taking away the dogs food. Someone that does not use punishment "as their last resort". Sorry but I am not looking for a "balanced" trainer.
4. someone familiar with body language and does not just stick the puppies in a group together to play without caution/knowledge. Looking for well structured puppy classes (less than 5 months old). Also needs to understand the whole socializing vs. vaccines issue.
If you have used a trainer for your puppy that seems to fit the above criteria please let me know and tell me how your pup is doing 🙂
If you are a trainer I certainly dont mean to offend but this is how I trained for 18 plus years. I will not refer (and recommend) to anyone who does not train similar. I know there are some at least an hour from here but I am looking for someone closer. There are "trainers" popping up everywhere because it is not regulated, this is why I am looking for these specific qualifications.
If you know anyone that fits the above please let me know. Thanks!! See less
