Mid-South Canines for Veterans

Mid-South Canines for Veterans is a non-profit organization that focuses on training rescue dogs to become service dogs for U.S. veterans with PTSD.

Mid-South Canines for Vets was founded by United States veterans and the owner of Paw Paw's Pets to provide our mission of training, boarding, feeding, and health care of dogs so they are prepared to go into homes of veterans and first responders with medically diagnosed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). We believe that we are "giving back" in training dogs to become service dogs to veterans

who have served our country world-wide. All dogs are saved from euthanasia at local animal shelters and/or are adopted from rescue groups to lead and provide a higher quality of life by being an integral component to sustaining a happier, meaningful existence. The symbiotic relationship between veteran and service dog plays an integral part in "saving" both dog and veteran.

MSCV has placed Jackson with his First Responder and loving owner, Jennifer. Jackson is given lots of love and attention and helps his owner get through her daily responsibilities related to her job. Jackson and Jennifer are doing very well, and he lights up her day when she gets home. What a pair!😄

After just 1 week of obedience training, Jackson is learning to walk nicely on a leash and the sit command.

Look at his attentiveness! He will be perfect for any military veteran and/or first responder. 🤩

Jackson began his first day of obedience training today. He is learning how to walk nicely on a leash. We have a way to go, but the journey is exciting and worth it.👏😀👍

Dede and Val rescued Jackson from the streets! He is a puppy who boarded with us and exhibits service dog qualities. From our observations over the weekend, we concluded he'd make an excellent service dog to either a military veteran or first responder. He is calm, sits for petting, enjoys human interaction, and listens well. He will be a PTSD service dog companion. He has been placed in obedience training and will be ready for placement soon.

We are excited to begin our service dog training with Jackson! We greatly appreciate Dede and Val's giving MSCV such a wonderful dog to work with and place. The cot is a bonus! It's all about working together and helping our community!
