Update on Ralphie. He was at the Emergency Vet Monday- Wednesday. Thursday he was transferred to our vet, Northgate Animal Hospital. He has received a newer treatment that’s designed for parvo babies. He’s been receiving all the meds. He’s still not eating and his count is 1.2 and anything below 4 is dangerous. He’s getting a plasma transfusion today. We are doing all we can to save him and over $3,000 in between both vet bills. He’s a fighter but we need your support. Please help us continue to give him the care he needs.

Hi everyone! Ralphie here. I was found running next to a cardboard box alongside a busy highway last week. The most wonderful family stepped up to save me and bring me into the rescue. I am named after “A Christmas Story”.

I was taken to the ER Monday night because I was very sick. Turns out I have the big bad parvo. I am so sad that I have to be away from my foster family on Christmas. I am getting the treatment I need but the nice people who saved me at Happy Tails Canine Rescue, need funds to cover my medical bills. It’s my Christmas wish to be healthy and go home.

Please consider donating to Ralphie’s care so he can get all the treatment he needs and get better soon. We need a Christmas miracle for Ralphie. His story isn’t over yet.

It’s here! Our last pups & yoga + fundraiser of the year! 🐾🫶

A week from today, Sunday 12/29 from 12-1pm, come do yoga with the 6 week old puppies in our rescue.

The cost is $25 a person (all ages and families welcome) and all proceeds go towards our rescue & vetting the puppies.

Have an approved application on file, and leave with a puppy! Put “puppy yoga on the app” priority will be given to approved apps to pick out their puppy! ❤️

We just got word that Santa's sleigh needs repairs, and he can't make it for pictures today. However, Happy Tails Canine Rescue will still be here today to celebrate their one year anniversary!

🎶 On the 12th day of rescue, my true love gave to me: Salem who went viral, because she was pregnant, with a single polar bear, I mean puppy…. who was 3 times the size of a normal puppy. 🎶

We started our rescue in December of 2023 with Etta’s surprise pregnancy, so it’s only fitting we close out December of 2024 with another surprise pregnancy. We rescued Phoenix (now Salem) at the beginning of October. She was adopted and we had her spay scheduled the following week (because she had a foot injury that needed to heal, she was being treated for parasites, and she needed to put on some weight). When the vet went in to spay her, she found Salem was pregnant and due more than likely in a few days. 😱 It was past the point of a safe spay for Salem. Four days later… Salem gave birth to a single puppy who was three times the size of a normal newborn puppy. The story went viral when her mom posted on Reddit. We have been featured in Newsweek, We Rate Dogs, and another BIG surprise coming soon. 🤫 Stay tuned….👀

We are thrilled to see how much joy Salem and her puppy, Astrid are bringing to so many. Salem is adopted but her polar bear puppy Astrid, is now up for adoption in our rescue and will be ready to go home on Christmas Day! 🎄🎅🏻💚❤️🐾

🎶 On the 11th day of rescue, my true love gave to me: new shelter partnerships in TN & Mississippi 🎶

In September- November, we were working hard to make new connections with local shelters. While we do take in an occasional owner surrender, or dog off the street, our passion really lies helping dogs out of the shelter. Animal shelters are overrun, over crowded, and often don’t have enough staff, volunteers, help, and visibility to get the animals seen and out. We are so fortunate and proud to now be partners with 6 shelters: Memphis Animal Services, Tipton County Animal Shelter, West Point Clay County Animal Shelter, Olive Branch Animal Shelter, Germantown Animal Shelter, and Collierville Animal Shelter! 🎶 On the 10th day of rescue, my true love gave to me: Parvo puppies who overcame their disease. 🎶

In August, we were contacted by a rescue partner about three Chihuahua puppies. The breeder had shut down and had these last three puppies to place because she couldn’t sell them. We took Bambi, Thumper and Flower into the rescue. The next day one of them passed away in his sleep (RIP Thumper) 💔 We immediately thought it could be parvo and rushed Bambi and Flower to the vet. They were positive and stayed in the hospital for a week getting medicine, fluids, and infusions. Thankfully, we were able to save their lives and honor their brother by giving them a chance to live. Bambi and Flower’s foster parents fell in love with our sweet miracle parvo puppies and decided to adopt them both. They are now called Kloppy and Mo for the legends they are (If you watch soccer, you know ⚽️) and have brought so much joy into their family’s life! This was our heftiest vet bill yet and nearly cleaned out our funds. When you donate to our rescue, not only do you donate to neuters/ spays/ shots/ microchips & routine care- but you also donate towards emergencies like this so we can be able to get our pups the help they need in dire situations. We can’t do this work without YOU! 🥹❤️🐾🙏

🎶 On the 9th day of rescue, my true love gave to me: a rescue room for our doggies 🎶

In July of 2024, we built our “rescue room”. This space serves to house our special or rehab cases as well as be a landing pad for new dogs coming into the rescue. We are grateful to have a place to not only provide a sanctuary for our pups, but also serve as a transitional foster space for dogs just pulled, pups heading to their fosters or adopters, or our dogs that need extra training or attention. We also leave one kennel open for boarding and give priority to previous adopters.

You can still donate to this project. We would love to be able to add more shelving/ storage and eventually have plumbing to build a doggie bath/ grooming station for our new intakes- we do lots of bathing/ flea baths/ and brushing- especially for our pups coming from the shelter or streets. 🥹

🎶 On the 8th day of rescue, my true love gave to me: Simon the doodle turned poodle! 🎶

As you’ve probably noticed, JUNE was a busy month for us. We ended the month when one of our rescue partners contacted us about the most matted “doodle” they had ever seen. His eyes were matted shut and his ears were so full of dirt and hair that he couldn’t see or hear. The person who had him must have tried to cut some of the matting off because he had a big laceration on his front leg. Our rescue partner said he was the sweetest doodle he had ever met and when we saw him, we said we would bring him into the rescue. We immediately took him to our groomer, Brandi to work her magic. It took her almost 4 hours and she said he was the worst case she had ever seen. Upon grooming we discovered that he was actually a standard poodle! We named him Sir Simon Poodle to match his newly discovered real identity (or maybe I was watching too much Bridgerton 🤪) Simon gave us a whole new love for poodles and he was adopted after being neutered and treating his leg. He’s living his most regal life now!

🎶 On the 7th day of rescue, my true love gave to me: fulfilling a man’s dying wish for his Aussies 🎶

In June, we saw a man’s post of needing to rehome his four Aussies due to going into hospice care. In less than 48 hours, we were able to fundraise for their medical care, find fosters for all of them, and find someone to get them to us! All the LOVE to Katia (who is now one of our most dedicated fosters) for driving to Louisiana and bringing the pups to us. A BIG THANK YOU to all the families that fostered and people who donated. Bella, Gumbo, Roux, & Grace were adopted and we were able to send the precious man an update with photos of the pups with their new families. What an honor to fulfill his final wish and how beautiful that at the end of his life all he wanted was for his pups to be safe and taken care of. BRB while we SOB all over again about this story. 😭🥹❤️🐾🙏
