Nook, Manny, R***r, and Quill made the most of a weekend in Indiana bringing home a combined NINE new titles for the weekend

Dawson Hollow’s Amadora (Manny x Sima) has turned her water obsession into her first title! She finished the weekend with a PR of 16’0.

This past weekend we attended the WCA event, and tried out some different combinations of dogs/puppies, and the puppies had their first a-bay exposure. I think they’re going to like it just fine.

Quill surprised me the most this past weekend. She has been a little slower to turn on than her littermates, and so I entered her in the NASDA trial hoping to find some niche for her since she hadn’t been consistently enthused with raccoon/hog previous experiences. She was able to light up on the various disciplines, but showed the most enthusiasm for the rats. I entered her in Urban and Trailing, and she passed all 4 trials with qualifying scores in level 1, and gained her first points in level 2. These are her first performance titles!

However, I hauled Scully to run with a puppy in cow dog, which ended up getting canceled despite the group’s best effort. Not wanting Scully to not have some fun, I entered her and Quill together for what I thought would be a flaky 10-20 seconds before Quill broke. She sure surprised me when she went in, hammered, and had the same “punching” through the pen style as Kazuki. She ended up making a bay off in the Level 1 2-dog, and came out just as strong with the longer time; it was actually Scully who started to flag at the end of the run and cost them points. They finished 3rd in Level 1 2-Dog B-Bay after the bay off.

Quill also managed a Best in Show Female - it was a fun Quill weekend!

I have not been on social media a whole lot lately, but have still had the opportunity to bring the dogs to several events in 2024

To catch up on the most recent….

NALC was a low stress weekend as I prioritized pairing the young dogs with the seasoned ones, and just had fun seeing the “puppies” style continue to develop without any expectations.

Nook tried NALC obedience for the first time, taking a 1st in level 1 despite a rogue styrofoam cup on her recall. She also placed 2nd in the Hip certified Female class.

Fiona tried Level 2 obedience for the first time, and while she powered through the long sit and down, the wet grass after last night’s storm was too much for miss priss to handle in the heeling patterns 🙈 She was in good company though, and placed 2nd with a NQS. She did manage a 1st in the Senior Female class, and had her tail wagging the whole ring time.

Quill handled the show ring great, and managed a split 1st in the 1+ Female Never Had a Litter, and went on to a Reserve Best in Show Female

Manny was a great partner for Amity in b-bay, though not enough to place. He did manage a “pity” 4th place in the Hip Certified Male class 🙈

I was tickled with Amity and Kazuki in their bbay and treeing runs; still some puppy focus to work through, but Kazuki did well enough with Mama Sima to snag a 4th place b-bay…he bays just like Sima, including the stone cold deafness when it comes to a call out 🙈😅

Despite the storm, couldn’t have asked for easier weather for the dogs this weekend nor better company to visit with!

In 2023, we were able to attend 4 UKC shows finishing 18 UKC titles with the dogs.
9 of those titles were obtained by Nook, now:
