Hello! My name is Cher... I've been nicknamed Cher-Bear, because I'm as sweet as a Care-Bear! I've been featured as POW before, but I'm still at the shelter! I'm a 3 year old Labrador retriever, having spent 2 years at Mena Animal Control, and February 1st will be a year at HSO! I've spent most of my life in a kennel! I hope someone will give me a chance to prove I'm a real sweet girl! I walk well on a leash, know how to sit, use a doggie door and do well in a crate, so I'm easily trainable! UPDATE 01-23-25: I will be posting the phone numbers on Jan 29, not Feb 1, but PLEASE do not call ahead. Wait till Feb 4, 7am, thank you! Our volunteers are very gracious and we want to respect them.
HELLO FRIENDS! Here is an update on the upcoming Spay-Neuter Clinic Feb 11-13. Please read the flyer for detailed information.
DO NOT CALL THE SHELTER OFFICE! This year, we have another phone helper, so there will be your choice of 2 numbers to call, and your questions will be answered! However, we deeply appreciate your cooperation and adhering to our policies when you call in for your appointment! Please know we are trying our best to accommodate the many calls we receive, and we understand and appreciate the fact that so many pet parents, want and need to take advantage of our low-cost clinic! So, this will be a test drive, using 2 phone volunteers, and on February 1st, I will post another flyer, with the 2 phone numbers at the bottom... I will post it here and on our website... PLEASE remember, calls will be answered after 7 am on February 4! Most important, if you get a busy signal, keep trying... if you get the answer machine, leave a message, and we will return your call... if not that day, the next day... do NOT call back once you leave a message! We are excited to begin HSO's 47th year helping animals in need in Polk County, Arkansas and beyond! HSO may be a small rural shelter, but it's Mighty... because of our wonderful volunteers and supporters who have been so faithful to keep the shelter doors open! I love to run around the yard and am leash-trained. I would make an excellent hiking and or running partner. I'm great with other dogs and love to play tug of war with a rope toy. We are in need of 10 to 15 of these rubber backed door mats. Size approximately 18x30. They can be used or new, clean or dirty. Please donate them if you can. We need them for the door flaps in our kennels to help keep the dogs warm.
