You know what day it is... 😉 Happy Hump Day from our Bactrian camels! 🐪

Bactrian camels are built to thrive in some of the planet's most extreme environments, from blistering summer heat to freezing winter cold. ❄️☀️ Here are just a few of their incredible adaptations:
- In winter, they grow a thick, shaggy coat to keep them warm, which they shed when summer rolls around.
- Their wide, hooved feet act like natural snowshoes, helping them walk effortlessly over sand or snow.

🐾 Animal Care Interns will work alongside zookeepers to learn animal husbandry, training, enrichment, observe veterinary consultations, and more!
📚 Education Interns will assist with EARTH Limited's Wild Adventure Summer Programs, helping plan, organize, and run daily activities. Ideal for those pursuing careers in education, psychology, or conservation.

Now that that's out of the way, did you know that yaks are built to survive extreme weather. Their dense, shaggy fur keeps them warm in icy climates, and their two-toed hooves help them walk on snow without sinking. ❄️

In case you were wondering—yes, the Blue Death-Feigning Beetle loves to groom itself, and yes, it’s pretty cute! 🪲 Like many insects, blue death feigning beetles take pride in staying clean, often grooming their legs and antennae—just like you see in this video.

What about that cute little starfish under the beetle? 🌟 These beetles, native to the deserts of the Southwest USA, wouldn’t normally encounter sea stars, but as omnivores, they enjoy a mix of animal protein, fruits, and veggies. Our keepers offer dried sea stars as a special snack and enrichment treat!
