Started free-flying Josephine and felt this was a good opportunity to mention that, whatever animal we’re working with, what we see posted in a photo/video often doesn’t scratch the surface of what went into it.

Last week at probably one of my favorite bases to train in so far! The buildings are just so gorgeous 😍. Teams from France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Switzerland came together to share in radio-guided directional training techniques and of course, engage in some friendly competition! Really an amazing group of people and dogs.

Four generations of machine for four generations of dogs!

Using what we dubbed the “Rollot method,” (after the trainer who developed it) the dog works on his own to find his odor and trigger the machine. Giving dogs a baseline in “independent” search technique helps them if they end up working with an inexperienced handler.
