Derrick Oberle joined Vets Plus last July and immediately implemented modifications that positively impacted demand planning, supply planning, production scheduling, inventory management, and warehousing-shipping-receiving. Derrick shines in the process development and organization departments and has used his talents to create a cohesive team, aligning multiple functions under his leadership. Derrick’s changes have quickly enhanced customer service and manufacturing efficiencies, resulting in improved product delivery to our clients.

Derrick’s dedication to excellence, coupled with his commitment to customer satisfaction, ensures that clients receive top-notch service and unparalleled support. He is not only a leader in our industry but also someone who genuinely cares about the customers’ success. He is a great listener and problem solver, bringing level-headedness, curiosity, a wide array of knowledge, and a desire to achieve the customers’ goals to every project.

His team of 18 enjoys working with Derrick because of his positive attitude, mentorship, and calm demeanor, laden with a solid sense of humor always riddled with kindness. As a leader, he encourages collaboration and provides the resources, guidance and constructive feedback that allows his team to flourish and individuals to grow professionally. His teammates know he is always looking for input from the people who have a horse in the race.

Derrick is an all-around good guy. He is well-versed in Team Roping through his family’s participation in the sport and brings that knowledge to work by roping in various personalities to work together as a team. You will never catch Derrick sitting down. His fleet feet and disciplined mindset serve him well when he runs marathons, including 100-milers, but they also provide him speed and stamina as he moves between and throughout Vets Plus facilities throughout the day. His determination, consistency, and high standards benefit everyone he works with, with beneficial downstream payoffs to the customer.

Employee Pet Spotlight of the Month: Meet Dudley!

This month’s pet spotlight shines on a truly unique and charming member of our extended family—Dudley, the 3-year-old Fainting Goat! Raised by Rachel, our dedicated HR Generalist, Dudley is not just any goat. He's a playful and mischievous little fellow whose favorite activity is munching on Frosted Flakes.

Yes, you heard that right—this goat has a sweet tooth! Dudley is not only known for his fainting antics but also for his remarkable intelligence. He responds to his name just like a dog, and his ability to "magically" make almost anything disappear (by eating it, of course!) never fails to amuse and amaze. Dudley also enjoys making best friends with the new calves that are born this time of year - since they’re just his size!

Whether he's playing around in the yard or taking the snack breaks at the speed of light, Dudley is a joy to watch and brings lots of laughter to everyone around him. His quirky habits and lovable nature make him a perfect candidate for our Pet Spotlight.

We are pleased to spotlight T.J. Vanasse, our Maintenance and Engineering Manager at Vets Plus.

T.J. is responsible for all maintenance and engineering at our two manufacturing facilities. He leads a team of nine, including maintenance engineers, process and tooling technicians, and a mold technician. His team thrives on continuous improvement and predictive maintenance, resulting in our operations running faster, cleaner, and more efficiently.

T.J.’s innovative engineering perspective adds to our entire manufacturing process. He shines in the creativity and ingenuity department. He is always willing to listen to new ideas and experiment when collaborating with our product development and quality teams. T.J.’s attention to detail makes him a master question asker, motivating everyone from our sales team to supply chain to glean as much information as possible from our customers and suppliers to provide the most value-added products. He loves a challenge and is driven to create robust, efficient, and cost-effective processes while fine-tuning the machinery and engaging his team.

T.J. isn’t perfect, however. His supervisor has expressed that T.J.’s main development need is to accept that Fords are significantly better than Chevys. A long-time co-worker met T.J. at the same moment he met his wife; socializing as couples is now a bit strained due to the men’s one-track minds – discussing injection molding or hot extrusion while smoking ci**rs isn’t exactly the Saturday-night date activity the wives enjoy.

We are grateful for T.J. Vanasse’s impactful contributions to our success!

We are pleased to spotlight 🌟 Beverly Wilkinson, DVM 🌟, our Director of Veterinary Services.

Dr. Beverly Wilkinson knew she wanted to be a veterinarian at an early age and never wavered from her dream. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University, where she developed a passion for veterinary nutrition. After spending time as a companion animal practitioner, she branched out into industry and eventually became a Scientific Services Veterinarian for Royal Canin and Mars Petcare. She joined the Vets Plus family in June 2023 with 15 years of experience in animal nutrition.

Dr. Wilkinson’s ability to take highly complex information and present it in language that is easily comprehended and understood by our business clients and consumers is invaluable. Her genuine love of veterinary medicine, animals, and the animal health profession is present in every conversation and business discussion she has with our valued clients.
