Chippewa Valley animal shelters are overwhelmed, housing in total over 242 adoptable animals due to a surge in strays, rising pet care costs, and the impact of recent hurricanes.

How can you help your local shelter?
🐾 Adopt: Consider bringing a furry friend into your home! Each adoption frees up space for another cat in need.

🐾 Foster: If you’re unable to adopt, please consider fostering. Providing a temporary home lets them relax in the comfort of a home while they wait to be adopted. At DCHS supplies and support are provided!

🐾 Donate:

DCHS Chewy Wishlist: https://bit.ly/DCHS_Chewy

🐾Volunteer: DCHS is always accepting volunteers to walk dogs, socialize cats, and help with daily cleaning.

🐾 Spread the Word: Share this message with friends and family. The more people who know about this dire situation, the better chance we have of finding loving homes.

In the United States, 1 in 3 family pets will go missing in their lifetime, but microchips drastically increase the likelihood that your pet gets reunited with you. Microchips, which are as small as a grain of rice, offer a simple and effective way for animal shelters and veterinary clinics nationwide to identify a pet’s owner. Your pet won’t even know it’s there, but we’ll always know where home is. 🐾

$10 Pet Microchips for One Day Only.

Microchip success story! 🎉

Last fall, Juliette was brought to the shelter as a “stray” in Elk Mound. She had very distinct markings, so after checking our lost pet reports, we scanned her for a microchip. This led us to Juliette’s owner in Eau Claire, who told us that Juliette had disappeared 9 YEARS AGO! After just 2 days in the shelter, Juliette and her original owner were reunited! ❤

🐾 Join us Saturday, November 9th for our affordable pet microchipping event.

Dogs with accurate microchip information are 2.4 times more likely to get reunited with their owner after going missing; cats with accurate microchip information are 21.4 times more likely.

Microchips are as small as a grain of rice--your pet won’t even know it’s there, but we’ll always know where home is. 💕

Our Story

The Dunn County Humane Society was formed in response to an act of cruelty which resulted in the death of Flash, a four-year-old Basset Hound. It is committed to the prevention of animal suffering in his memory. The Society was chartered in December 1993 by the State of Wisconsin as a nonprofit organization.
