Sure, "can I pet that dog" videos have gone viral on social media, but when it comes to dog bite prevention, it's important to know how to avoid escalating risky situations and to understand when you should and should not interact with dogs. Here are a few scenarios when you should avoid petting a dog. You can find more helpful tips at avma.org/DogBite.

The next 4-6 weeks is mating season for coyotes. Please do not let your dogs out alone. The coyote gets your dog to chase him and then somewhere in the distance the pack waits for your dog. Then the outcome is tragic as they can & will attack/kill your pets.

Coyote breeding typically peaks in late February and early March, the gestation period averages 58 to 63 days. Male coyotes can become more aggressive during this time of year. Coyotes always pose a risk to your dog (and other small pets). That risk increases during mating season.

Once again COVID is wreaking havoc with our staff. Dr. Chris has it for the first time ever! Four other staff members have it so far. We are testing daily and continuing to provide excellent care to our patients.

Please bear with us if we are unable see your pet. If we feel we can not provide excellent care, we will refer you elsewhere. Our goal is to safely provide the best care possible.

Thank you for understanding.
