Happy Valentine’s Day Travis

A young lady asked me a couple days ago, “What are you doing for Valentine’s Day?” I replied that I had no plans as I would be alone She was compelled to tell me how sad that was and she hadn’t found anyone special either. I was quick to explain: “No, I’ve had the same Valentine for 35 years now. He won’t be home on the 14th, but we celebrate whenever we want.” I wouldn’t want it any other way. Love you Trucker Trav. We’ll celebrate all week long when you get home ❤️

So excited! 😆 We got a washer and dryer! We got the Maytag Pet Pro series hoping to get all the 🐕 and 🐴 hair out of our clothes. Not sure what to think of this “Note” in the Quick Start Guide. 🤪 For reals people have to be told this?

Hell’s Bells! What are some this in the middle of winter! Just a few days out from-23 degree nights. It can’t be, it just can’t be. I did just get into some straw bedding which I haven’t touched in about five weeks. Maybe that’s where it came from. Well, it’s not biting. Not living any more either.

It has been some time since I’ve posted updates. We’ve just been extremely busy finishing up the apartment and getting all the systems working and doubled up. We are still off grid and making it work. You can’t imagine the learning curves. I will be posting updates soon. For now, in light of the challenges we are all facing due to the unexpected amount of snow we are all receiving, please allow me to share one of the things which keeps me going.

Daily I ask God for help. I pray for him to give me the strength and fortitude to press on to a better future for my kids and grandkids knowing that what I do today will make a difference for them. Not just feeding and caring for the animals they enjoy, but building a homestead site they will benefit from. God does give me the strength and sometimes He says hello. I see it when I look at all the beauty around me. Yesterday, He shared in an unexpected way.

You see God does most things in 7s. He made the earth and rested on the 7th day, He sent the 7 plagues in Mose’s time, and many more 7s are written about in scripture. He also works in 3s. Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Birth, Life, and Death. God, Husband, and Wife are just some examples. Well, God sends us all answers in ways personal to ourselves.

I have had to idle the pickup much more than usual the past couple days as I have spent hours plowing snow and breaking ice for the critters. There have been moments when I just didn’t want to do another task. In one of these moments, I retreated to the cab of the pickup and received a “hello” on the dash.

Perhaps only having meaning to me, but here is what I read. The miles (77.7) have been done within God’s plans. The miles to go (333) can be done with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And with God, all things are possible (7.3). Tell me, what are some of the messages you receive. I know God talks to us all.

So, I wish I had a picture to share of the moment or even a little video. Alas I don’t. So please imagine along with me as I recount a once in a lifetime moment I had today. Though, I do hope to repeat it. It was so spontaneous and joyful. My wish would be for all of you to have such a moment and share it with me.

A trip to Costco for dog food found me staring across the parking lot as the down pour gave no hint of changing its song. As I had not planned for rain and had no jacket nor umbrella, I encouraged myself with the the thought that I was not made of sugar and couldn’t melt before reaching the front door. As I bee lined for the entrance, I chose to embrace the rain rather than begrudge it. I lifted my eyes from my path and in my true manner, began “seeing” people. The First Lady to cross paths with me was met with “I believe we both forgot our shampoo for this shower. “. She smiled. One down. Now to look for the next individual to greet. As I neared those gathered under the dripping roof line, a man a bit older than I came up alongside me. I smiled and asked him, “Care to dance in the rain?” To my surprise and delight, he reached out his hands and swung me around as he replied, “Why the hell not!” The crowd smiled and he and I smiled as we went our different ways. We didn’t know each other. He and I will likely never see each other again. Just two folks who took a split second to dance in the rain and help others to make light of the moment. It was joyous!

We forget that connection is of great significance to our spirit. I pray you find a way to connect with someone each day. Sing like no one is listening, dance like no one is watching, and love like you’ve never been hurt. Be the change you wish to see in the world.
