This is new and important information- cats contracting bird flu from a commercial raw diet. Some large cats in sanctuaries have also recently died from bird flu.
While many owners do feel strongly about the health benefits of raw diets, we cannot recommend feeding raw diets due to risks to both pets and humans. Approximately 30% of dogs fed raw diets are found to shed E. Coli and salmonella in their f***s. In addition, as recent studies in Britain has linked antibiotic- resistant E. Coli in human urinary tract infections to owners feeding their pets raw diets. We feel that if an owner is feeding raw foods, they should at least be aware of these statistics when making their decisions for their pet.

No human cases of bird flu have been linked to the incident.
