Puppies and kittens are long-term commitments, not last-minute gifts.
Puppies are not good Christmas presents! They are a 15+year commitment and a LOT of work, plus come with long-term financial responsibilities. Because they should be fur-ever pets, we do not recommend getting them as gifts for your loved ones without their knowledge. This is a big decision for any person because you are choosing a companion for the rest of the animal's life. And here is the sad truth about Christmas puppies. Every year people adopt puppies from shelters at Christmas only to return them 1-4 months or even a year later. By then, they are not so tiny and adorable, haven't been trained, have developed poor behavioral habits and are now much less adoptable. Most adult dogs that are passed over every day at a shelter were at one point taken in as an adorable puppies. We want FUR-EVER homes for our animals, not just “right now” homes. Please don’t bring home one or give a pet as a Christmas present unless you are willing to take full responsibility for its care and welfare.

GETTING IT STRAIGHT!
So, we got Winston’s last name wrong the first time around (we are blaming autocorrect)… fixing it here! The Grinch and his loyal dog, Max, really don’t like Christmas. But we are fortunate that our “Grinch” is Hunter Hope, representing Merck, the company that brings us Bravecto. Hunter popped into Poplar Springs Animal Hospital to spread holiday cheer, very unlike what his excellent costume suggests! He didn’t bring Max, but three pups who just got groomed by our expert staff enjoyed his cuddles. He’s with Penelope Edwards, a Yorkipoo, owned by Teri Edwards; Lucy Cobb, a Peekapoo, owned by Betsy Cobb; and Winston Wedgeworth, a Maltese owned by Cay Wedgeworth. We hope Max doesn’t get jealous!
