Here's one from the history books. This is Twp Commissioner Sam Zurzolo working on the flag pole he built for the park. Sam did all the work himself laboring away alone in the heat. It took his hard work and skills over a period of several weeks to complete the work. Three Cheers for Sam!

Good news for Preston Park's Lake Carrie. The lake is named after one of Dr Preston's close friends and research collaborators who helped Frank Preston establish Preston Laboratory glass research business.

Butler Twp is Seeking Funds for Preston Park Lake.
Butler Twp is seeking state assistance for a large undertaking at Preston Park. At their meeting on Monday, April 1, 2024, the commissioners approved a resolution to make a Planning Assistance grant request of nearly $73,000 through the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The grant from the Commonwealth Finance Authority requires a 15% local match. A recent data collection study determined that approximately four feet of silt have accumulated in the three acre Preston Park pond. This leaves anywhere from only two to four feet of water. This grant will help determine how much it would cost to dredge the lake and its two tributaries as well as make repairs to the dam. The township expects to hear if the grant will be awarded sometime late summer or early fall.

Members of the Friends of Preston Park Foundation present a $5000 donation to the Butler Township Commissioners at their December 18, 2023 meeting. The check was for the recent purchase of a Kubota UV to be used at Preston Park.

Trick or Treat at Preston Park will be from 6 to 8 PM on October 27. The event is hosted by the Butler County Chamber of Commerce and Butler Township. Businesses that are members of the chamber may set up a table for free at the event. Last year, the vent drew 800 children and their families. Those who set up a table are asked to bring candy of 1000 children as well as promotional materials for parents. One table will will be awarded Best Decorated Vendor this year. To reserve a table, email Tanya Wise, chamber operations manager, at [email protected].
