A: It's $20 for the first pet and $15 for any additional cats or dogs. Small animals (bunnies ferrets, guinea pigs etc) are only $10 for additional pets instead of $15. If you have 5+ pets the 5th pet is FREE!
A: Yes we are a mobile in-home service that services Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Garden City, Nampa, Caldwell, Star and Middleton.
Q: What services do you offer?
A: Nail grinding (dogs), Nail clipping (cats and small animals), Ear cleaning ($5), Teeth Brushing ($5), A**l gland expression ($10). We do not grind cat or small animal (bunny, ferret, guinea pig etc.) nails because they are too fragile and will splinter apart.
Q: What days/times are you available? How do appointment times work?
A: We do nails every Monday, Friday and Sunday. Depending on demand some weeks we add an extra day. That day just depends on most peoples availability. Our first opening is a 9-10am and our latest opening is a 6:30-7:30pm. We book by city so times available per city vary based on what is already booked that day. We book in one hour increments so if you are given a 2-3 pm spot we would come sometime between that appointment window just depending on traffic and the previous dogs. If you need to cancel please give us at least 24 hrs. notice so we have time to rebook your spot. If you cancel with less than 24 hrs. notice and we aren’t able to rebook the spot we have a $15 cancellation fee. If we come out to your house and no one is there we have a $20 cancellation fee that can be either pre-payed or added to the next appointment fee.
Q: Do you do pit bulls, chows etc.? Do you only do dogs?
A: We have NO breed restrictions and love all of them! No, we also do cats and small animals (bunnies, ferrets, guinea pigs etc.) Unfortunately we don’t currently do birds, reptiles or livestock.
Q: How does the nail grinding work? Is nail grinding for dogs better than clipping?
A: With nail grinding we use a dremel tool to grind the nails down instead of using traditional clippers. Most dogs seem to prefer the grinding over clipping once they get past the initial sound and vibration of it because it doesn’t cause any pain or pressure like the nail clipping can to dog nails. It takes them much shorter than clipping, prevents splintering and rounds them off to keep them from snagging. It doesn’t get hot on their nail and is safer than clipping because we can take a little off at a time to avoid touching the nerve in the nail. We grind the nails until we get to the membrane around the quick so the nerve in the nail doesn’t get touched. The nerve will want to recede back to be covered back up by the nail so we are able to get the nails shorter each time.
Q: How often do my pets need their nails done?
A: For dogs if you are trying to get the quicks (nerve) to recede back to take the nails shorter it should ideally be done every 2-3 weeks. Once the nail is at a good length you can maintain them every 4-6 weeks just depending on how active your dog is. Cats and small animals should usually be done about every 6 weeks.
Q: My dog is shy, aggressive, scared etc. Can you still do them? How long does it take and how does it work?
A: Yes, we can! Our whole goal is to make this a positive experience for your pet. We will go at their pace. Depending on your pets fear level some pets take multiple sessions before they ease up and start trusting us and the process more and that is okay! We usually do big dogs on the ground. They can either stand, sit or lay down. Whatever is more comfortable for them. Small dogs, cats and small animals we usually hold, but the owner can hold as well if they prefer that. We do have muzzles if needed. It takes about 5 minutes or less for a pet that doesn’t mind it so for a pet that does the time just goes up from there depending on their behavior. We will have one person doing the nails and the other person holding the pet so that the owner can be petting/feeding peanut butter/comforting the pet if needed.
