Our fosters and adopters are absolute rockstars—the best in the world—and Winn-Dixie’s story proves it! This 2-year-old hound mix, tipping the scales at just 30 pounds, stumbled into our lives skin-and-bones, extremely malnourished, and still nursing four 6-week-old puppies. Thanks to her incredible foster, Andrea, she’s been showered with love, care, and the chance to heal. Check out the super heartwarming video Andrea made to share Winn-Dixie’s journey. Winn-Dixie is still looking for her forever home. She is great with dogs, cats, and kids of all ages. She has an adoption date of March 22nd. You can message us or visit our website for more info! Winn-Dixie is also one of our five heartworm-positive adults battling through a grueling, months-long treatment. Heartworm treatment is a very expensive process and we would truly appreciate any and all donations toward their care. #wolftrapanimalrescue #fosteringsaveslives #adoptdontshop #rescuedog #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #rescueanimals
This past Saturday morning, one of our worst nightmares came true. We received a call that our transport driver had been in a terrible wreck just 25 minutes away from our veterinary hospital carrying 61 of our incoming animals.
The fear we felt in that moment was indescribable. Our minds raced with worries about the safety of the driver and the animals on board. But in the midst of this chaos, we were met with strength and kindness of those around us.
Within minutes, incredible first responders arrived at the scene. Immediately getting to work, they ripped the door off the van to free our driver, who was trapped inside. The speed and professionalism of these brave individuals were nothing short of heroic. Thanks to them, our driver was rushed to the emergency room where we learned, to our immense relief, that he had only suffered minor injuries and will make a full recovery.
The animals, too, were incredibly fortunate. None of the 61 animals were injured. However, 5 of our precious cats escaped from the wreck and still haven’t been able to be caught. We’ve had several sightings in the past few days, and take comfort knowing they are alive and well. We have the best team of trappers working tirelessly around the clock to catch them. With every lead, we are hopeful that they’ll be back with us, safe and sound, soon!
Thanks to the expertise of our team and the careful handling by the transport crew, the other 56 animals were quickly gathered up and brought to our animal hospital. We’ve been able to take every precaution to ensure their well-being and safety in our foster care.
In moments like these, we are reminded of the importance of community, and how deeply grateful we are for the incredible people who were there when we needed them most. We want to send a heartfelt thank you to the first responders who were there for us in our scariest moment. And we’ll be forever thankful to all of our fosters, adopters, volunteers, and followers who have gone ab
