๐Ÿ’ฅ Update on Malani's bill. We are currently at $315 covered. Leaving $325 left.

The Cardiologist contacted me today to go over the results of Malani's echo in depth and is recommending more testing for her heart.

We CANNOT do this if we don't have the funds. We REALLY need your help right now!!

I guess I'm going to try adding the donate button back to our page (Meta charges us fees for it now through PayPal Giving Fund ๐Ÿ™„) but it seemed to have worked better for raising funds for Vet bills. We will give it a try. For now:

UPDATE: SANDI HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

As promised.......meet Sandi!

๐Ÿพ **Name**: Sandi
๐ŸŽ‚ **Age**: 5 years old
๐ŸŒŸ **Breed**: Yorkie Mix
๐Ÿก **Favorite Spot**: Curled up on the your lap or playing with toys!
๐Ÿ– **Favorite Treat**: pretty much any treat you give me ๐Ÿ˜
๐ŸŽพ **Favorite Toy**: loves the crinkly toys
๐Ÿ’– **Personality**: Sweet, playful, and incredibly loyal
๐ŸŽ“ **Special Talent**: loves to run up to you and flip on her back real quick to give you her chunky belly ๐Ÿคฃ

Sandi is a bundle of joy and sunshine wrapped in golden fur. She loves nothing more than spending time with her ADULT humans, whether itโ€™s playing a game of fetch, going on long walks, or simply snuggling up for a movie night. Her big, soulful eyes and wagging tail can melt anyoneโ€™s heart.

Sandi gets along with other dogs, and even cats now (pretty sure she never saw them before here ๐Ÿคฃ). Sandi needs a home with NO SMALL CHILDREN AT ALL! Not even ones visiting. She doesn't like them one bit! She prefers adults. And can be a little "shy" when you first meet her. She is very "talkative" which many mistake for her being aggressive. She's not!

Adopt Sandi, and youโ€™ll not only get a loyal companion but also a best friend who will always greet you with a wagging tail and a whole lot of love!

Sandi is approximately 13 lbs which the vet says is right about where she should be ๐Ÿ’ž I call her my "chunky lowrider" ๐Ÿคฃ she is up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, spayed and microchipped. She is being fostered near Merrill, WI and her adoption fee is $450.

If you would like to add Sandi to your family, you can apply for her at:

According to Meta. Over 1,000 views on Malani's post. Not a single penny donated towards her appointment ๐Ÿฅบ this is why the smaller, good rescues cannot stay afloat folks. Vetting bills are going up and donations WAY down ๐Ÿ˜”

๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅDONATIONS NEEDED FOR MALANI ๐Ÿฅบ

Many of you remember Malani. But for those who haven't heard her story.

Malani came to me at 3 months old, she was a breeder release from an Amish due to not being able to sell her because of a "slight" heart murmur. Their "vet" even noted that on her CVI. But when I got her in my arms, I could tell her "slight" heart murmur, was a lot more than "slight" because I could FEEL it in my hand. The next day, I took her to our normal vet and she was diagnosed with a grade 5/6 heart murmur. I was then referred to get her in for an echo asap. I took her to the University of Minnesota and had her 1st echo done.

She was then diagnosed with ventricular septal defect (as explained to me, a hole in her heart). They advised another echo done in a year or 2 to see if the hole closed itself or if she would need surgery or medication the rest of her life. The decision was made at that time that Malani would be a "permanent foster".

Malani has been doing "well" as long as we keep her from playing too hard or getting too excited. Lately her episodes of coughing from getting worked up have been getting worse. She doesn't have to do much at all for them to start.

I reached out from a referral to Dr. Miller at Lakeland Veterinary Imaging to see if she would be willing to do the echo. She has agreed to. We have an estimate of $640 for the exam and diagnostic testing. Her appointment is Wednesday November 6th at 10am in Green Bay.

Donations are WAY down right now and we need YOUR help to get this testing done for Miss Malani. Every $1 counts! If you can't donate, PLEASE SHARE!

Did you know that you can foster-to-adopt? With so many hurricane shelter animals coming in from the South it's even more critical to help the animals within Wisconsin to find foster homes or better yet; adopters! By getting one kennel open we make room for one more that's been waiting! If you've ever considered fostering now is the time to make the leap. We can walk you through it step by step. Send us a message and we'll get you started! *Photo of one that's waiting to get into a foster home*.

๐Ÿ’ฅFor those who have been wondering why we no longer have the "donate" button on FB. They took it away awhile ago and have added it back probably 6 months or so ago.

If it gets re-linked, it HAS to be through Meta Pay which is now linked with PayPal Giving Fund. They take out fees (even for us non-profits ๐Ÿ™„) which is an absolute joke! So not many have set it back up. Thus the reason we have the other links posted and pinned to the top of the page and ask you to please use them to donate.

We do have a PayPal Giving Fund account setup on PayPal, but we don't use it due to them taking out fees. It's $0.99 per $25. Remember we always say every $1 counts? It really begins to add up!! Especially when donations are at an all time low. So please use the PayPal listed instead of searching for it.

Thank you from all of the pups at Rescue For Life! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

UPDATE: Taz is out of surgery and recovering and slowly waking up with us in "his" room. He did and is doing very well!

It's NEUTER DAY ๐Ÿฅณ when I pulled my phone out and told Taz I need a picture for all of his fans, well....you can see by the 1st picture what he did ๐Ÿคฃ so much character in this guy!

It's also ADOPTION DAY ๐Ÿ’ž after Taz's neuter is complete (the vet is allowing us to stay with him the whole time minus the actual procedure and we can take him home as soon as he can walk) we will sign the official adoption paperwork!

I have decided to waive Taz's adoption fee since this family has done so much for him already since January and with donations, his vetting has almost been completely covered!

Thank you to EVERYONE who has donated to help him get to where he needs to be. It truly does take a community to help dogs like Taz.

I will update at the top of this post when he gets released. They just took him back for surgery. We are the only people here at this time (they even locked the door so noone can come in ๐Ÿ’ž)

09/13/2024

Thank you SO much to the private donor who just donated the funds needed for Taz's neuter ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’ž she is someone I hold dear to my heart as she has been my mentor my whole life and where I get my love for animals and doing what I do. I love you ๐Ÿ˜˜

Taz. You are one loved little boy!

Any funds raised above what is needed for Taz's care will be used towards other vetting bills for our many other dogs in our Rescue. YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!!

Taz is of course doing amazing! But his foster momma argues that his sleep schedule still isn't where it should be ๐Ÿ˜ด this is Taz at midnight protesting to come back in the house ๐Ÿคฃ

I wanted to come and post another huge THANK YOU to the wonderful person (I will not post a name unless they give permission) who sent us another check in the mail for $100 yesterday along with a beautiful thank you note to go towards Taz's medical bills. I have shared the note with Taz's foster momma as well ๐Ÿ’ž thank you SO much for your kind words and your donation!

That leaves about $92.50 left of his first vet visit and we were told his neuter is going to be approx $190. So please if you can! Help us help Taz! His neuter is supposed to be next Friday!

Taz had a great weekend and is doing very well on his medications. He of course is a "stinker" with taking his meds and spits them out the second he detects them in any treat so they have to go down the "old fashioned" way ๐Ÿคฃ which thankfully. He's so laid back and loves his foster momma so much he just sits there and let's her do it!

I wanted to come and post a huge THANK YOU to the wonderful person (I will not post a name unless they give permission) who sent us a check in the mail for $100 this weekend along with a beautiful thank you card to go towards Taz's medical bills. I have shared the card with Taz's foster momma as well ๐Ÿ’ž thank you SO much for your kind words and your donation.

We've had a lot of medical expenses recently in the Rescue (we can never say "no" when a dog needs help!) So the donation to Taz's care definitely helps!

Taz did AMAZING at his Vet appt today! He was a little nervous when we first got there and had to be carried in. But after his exam, shots, and blood draw, he was walking all over the place. In and out of the doors, outside and let us get a urine sample, back inside (without being carried) and walked around the waiting room and then right back into "our room" to hang out for his 4dx results. His foster momma has done an amazing job preparing him for touching for his appt!

4dx tests for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Lymes and Anaplasma. Taz was negative for all except Lymes. Which explains why he's been sleeping a lot. So he is on some medications for the next 30 days to fight the infection down. Lymes is something that never goes away. It can "flare" back up at any time.

We are still awaiting the rest of his blood work results. We should have those by Monday. And his urine results I should have by tomorrow late morning. As long as his blood results come back great, he is all setup to be neutered on the 20th!! Wahoo! And his foster to adopt family is super excited because then that will be the day that we sign the adoption paperwork ๐Ÿ˜Š

Taz's foster to adopt family still wishes to remain anonymous. All they want to focus on is getting Taz completely healthy and work on his training. They said "having Taz in their household is thanks enough". And to those of you who live close by and know who the family is. Be respectful. Keep your distance. Taz does NOT like people randomly walking up to him. He needs A LOT of work. Let this family work at his pace to get him to where he needs to be. Then maybe they will come forward. Until then. We will continue to respect their privacy and let them concentrate on Taz.

As promised. I have also posted the invoice for today if anyone would like to donate towards it.

Taz is doing SO well! His vetting appointment is this upcoming Thursday the 5th. We and the vet decided it would in his best interest to let him decompress for a bit before transporting him.

At this appointment, Taz will be getting all vaccinations, bloodwork, x-rays (due to a few reports of him being "bumped" by cars) and a full examination. And anything else we need to do for him.

I have been contacted by a few people asking if they could help in any way. The best way to be able to help right now is through donations to help cover his vet bills for this appointment and his neuter appointment at a later date. I will be posting the receipts for his appointments on this page for all to see to know where your donations are going! I am a very transparent person.
