Did you know?

There are so many ways for you to donate to LCHS! We are not funded by any national organization so any donation you make to HSUS, ASPCA, or others do not assist your local shelter.

LCHS is a private organization that gets all of it’s funding from donations that are made right to the shelter. We do fundraisers for the shelter that the public is encouraged to attend and there are many other ways to help out as well!
Here is a list of ways to help out:

*In person donations can be made right at the shelter and gives you the chance to visit with all the wonderful pets we have looking for homes!
*Facebook Fundraisers (we see lots of people who do birthday fundraisers)
*Some employers/companies will match a donation made to a organization
*Individual fundraisers can be done by people who wish to create their own fundraiser for the shelter. LCHS loves to share when someone is doing a fundraiser for us to help promote it!
*Fresh Step Paw Point from Fresh Step Litter can be donated and in the past has helped LCHS to get a pallet of cat litter for free!
*LCHS has donation boxes at local businesses for you to donate with ease!
*Online donations can be made right on the shelter website www.furrypets.com

There are so many awesome ways to donate to the shelter to help us help all of these wonderful animals that come into our care every year. LCHS cares for about 1,000 animals a year! We appreciate all the help and support we can get and have a pretty wonderful support system and are so very grateful! ❤️

Thank you to the amazing donors for all your support as we care for so many extra animals!

At this time, we do NOT need any additional towels or blankets. We received such a great response that we are completely out of space and no longer need towels or blankets.

We DO still need bleach, Dawn dishsoap, and Fabuloso brand floor cleaner.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity during this time!

LCHS frequently receives calls regarding injured birds or wildlife. Although we are eager to help where we can, our facility does not have the permits or the skills to care for these creatures. If you find an orphaned, injured, or abandoned animal that appears to be in need, please stop and contact a wildlife rehabilitation facility before intervening. Trained staff at these organizations can advise whether an animal is truly in need and what the next step will be.

For wild birds, please call the Raptor Education Group, Inc. based in Antigo, WI. Again, please contact the facility before handling or moving wild birds. The Raptor Education Group, Inc can be reached at 715-623-4015.

For wildlife, please call Wild Instincts based in Rhinelander, WI. It is recommended to contact the facility before handling or removing wildlife. Wild Instincts can be reached at 715-362-9453. Wild Instincts is available by phone 24 hours a day.

For wildlife, you can also call Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua, WI. It is recommended to contact the facility before handling or removing wildlife. Northwoods Wildlife Center can be reached at 715-356-7400. You can also you use this link for advice on common wildlife situations: https://northwoodswildlifecenter.org/what-we-do/rehabilitation/animal-emergency.html

Many organizations try to assist with transporting animals to the appropriate wildlife facility. First, contact the wildlife rehabilitation centers. If you are unable to transport the animal, you can try contacting LCHS to see if there is a volunteer available to assist (we cannot guarantee we will have someone able to help). You can also contact the local Sheriff’s Department at 715-536-6272 for assistance.

We recommend saving these contacts into your phone so you have easy access to the phone numbers in case of an emergency.

If you have found an animal you believe is in need, please call us between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. at (715) 356-7400 to get further instructions!

Lost Cats! Please share!
We live on Langhoff Rd in Merrill. She’s about a year and a half. She’s not microchipped but she is spayed and has a seresto flea and tick collar. She’s pretty timid. A good number is 7one5-370-3729. Our other cat that’s missing as well is about 2 and has the same details, not microchipped but has a collar and is spayed. The one with white went missing the night of 11/6 and the other one during the day I think on 11/11.

We are still very full with animals at LCHS! We currently have 101 pets in our care and 16 of those are in foster care so that means that we have 85 pets waiting for their forever to come along here at the shelter! We have so many amazing pets here waiting to spoil the lucky humans they adopt! Some of them have been in homes before and some are just starting out but all of them are amazing and eager to please!

Having so many animals we tend to go through lots of supplies. Supplies we go through the most are:
*Cat litter (non-scoopable)
*Stamps
*Catnip
*Latex gloves (medium-large size)
*Fabuloso Floor Cleaner
*Purina Dog Chow

Applications and info on each animal can be found on our website furrypets.com

We always offer 2 for 1 adoptions on any cats and kittens going into the same home!

Jessie is still on the hunt for her forever! She has been at the shelter since July 11th and just has not found her right fit yet. She is great with people but can be picky about other dogs that she likes. She has been around cats before in a home and was fine. She is about 8.5 years old and is ready to find her adventure buddy! 🥰 And can we take a minute to appreciate this amazing paw shake!
