2 Love A Pet

This page is dedicated to all our pets past and present. You made us want to be better humans. We called her "Milly", or "Baby Dog" and she was a treasure.

Our profile picture is Malia - the first puppy we owned as a married couple. She's been gone for some years, but she will live forever in our hearts. She was a Gordon Setter with what one person called "Dr. Seuss feet" - feathers and beautiful, silky fur. She was a bundle of energy to the very end, crazy and loving and a daily delight. In later years we added "Ralphie", a black Lab who wandered in

to our yard and hearts one day. He was also known as "Hug-A-Dog", always happy to plonk his 150 pounds on my lap when I was cold or in need of a furry companion. We also had a number of cats over the years. This page is dedicated to all those past pets- Milly, and Ralphie, and the cats - Mouse, Mr. Bill, Nala and Koa. For all of them, and Jack, our current crazy chihuahua, we give thanks for all the love.

Homemade dog food day! We feed this to supplement Jack's kibblle. I freeze it in daily portions - here's the recipe:
1 pound ground turkey, cooked in a small bit of olive oil If needed (NO seasoning. Then break the meat up in small pieces)
2 cups cooked rice (I use brown rice)
1/3 - 1/2 lb carrots, steamed and chopped
1-2 tsp dried parsely, crushed

I stream the carrots in the basket attachment of my rice cooker, then chop them up with my food processor (take just a few seconds)
I mix everything together and portion it into serving sizes, using snack size zipper bags. This mix goes a good two+ weeks for our little guy (he gets 1/3 cup per day)
