SVE Village Rovers Dog Club

Village Rovers was formed in Sunland Village East in Mesa to enhance the enjoyment of dog ownership.

The second annual Village Rovers Golf Tournament is coming up Sunday, Sept. 22, beginning at 8 a.m. at the SVE Golf Course. Although the tournament is full for golfers, we still have openings for a few more hole sponsors ($125). Contact Darla Fehlandt if interested ([email protected] or 651-494-8883). Even if you’re not playing golf with us that day, we will have a dunk tank so anyone can buy a chance to dunk some of our HOA Board members as well as many raffle prizes that you can buy tickets for a chance to win. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to build activity stations for the dogs at the recently opened SVE Dog Park. More details are available at www.villagerovers.com

It was a hot and windy morning but we had a good turnout for our opening party of the new SVE Dog Park. Community residents, our HOA manager, dogs and HOA Board members attended to help us cut the ribbon and officially open the Park. We all appreciated the refreshing Kona shaved ice, courtesy of the Village Rovers Dog Club! The Club and SVE will hold another larger event in the Fall when residents return from the summer. Reminder—SVE residents are invited to the Opening Party of the new SVE Dog Park on Friday, June 21, 9 a.m. Visit SVE’s newest amenity, adjacent to the softball field, with or without your dog. It's been fun/rewarding to see community residents and their dogs using the new dog park the past few days. One evening, there were 8 large dogs and 3 small ones in their respective areas! Thankfully, we have some shade for these hot days! Dog park hours are 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Solar lights were installed this weekend along the walkway leading into the park. Gates were added to the fencing in the new Dog Park yesterday so it’s now ready for use by SVE residents!
Please walk down the new sidewalk with your dog on its leash. Proceed through the first gate, and chose whether you and your dog belong in the large/active or small/timid dog areas. Signage with rules for the dog park has been ordered and will be installed soon.
In the meantime, please follow the rules approved by the HOA:
Hours are 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Park is available only to SVE residents
Use at your own risk
Owners are legally responsible for their dogs at all times
Dogs must be leashed entering/exiting the park
Dog waste must be picked up immediately
Owners must monitor their dogs at all times
Dogs not permitted: aggressive, in heat, sick, puppies under 4 months

There is no running water yet so please bring your own water for your dog.
The Village Rovers Dog Club plans to schedule a “soft” opening event for the Dog Park in the next few weeks with a grand opening planned in the Fall when more residents return to SVE. Visit www.villagerovers.com to see more dog park photos and details.

Lots of activity at the dog park construction site this morning--fencing company putting in the posts, concrete contractor preparing the "aprons" on either side of the sidewalk for rocks tomorrow, and the irrigation company working on changes to the lines. Dog Park Construction Update: The entrance/memorial wall on the top landing was completed yesterday. It will be a busy week ahead with fencing installation scheduled to start on Tuesday and rocks placed on the "aprons" on both sides of the sidewalk on Wednesday. Good progress was made this week on building our new dog park. Sidewalk, landings and base for the Memorial/entrance wall were completed. Wall will be stuccoed and capped, and the "aprons" on either side of the sidewalk will be covered in small rocks. Fencing is scheduled to be installed the week of May 27. Construction of our dog park this week is focused on creating the "aprons" on the sides of the walkway and building a wall at the entrance that will eventually house memorial plaques and water.

Our concrete crew made great progress today! Sidewalk and landing areas into the basin are done, crew will work on the "aprons" that go on the side of the walkway next week, followed by installation of fencing and signage!

If you were out and about in the neighborhood at 4 this morning, you may have seen the concrete being poured for the landing pads and sidewalk to our SVE Dog Park. It's taking shape!

Dog park is progressing! Construction crew is finishing up forms today for the concrete sidewalk that leads to a 15’ by 15’ entry pad. Residents will enter and then decide if their dog belongs on large/active side or small/timid dog side.

Work has started on our SVE Dog Park! Today, the crew from Marcos Concrete is surveying the area in preparation for creating the sidewalk which will lead residents and their dogs into the basin and entry into the Dog Park. Visit www.villagerovers.com for more details.

Dog Park Update-- The city has approved the Dog Park Construction Plan. As you can see, the team is ready to start digging!

The Concrete Contractor will clear the area, create a small berm for the appropriate sidewalk slope, build forms for landing pads and walkway, and finally pour concrete. Fencing will be installed immediately afterwards.

Work is scheduled to begin April 29th. Starting the 29th and during May this basin will be closed. Please use an alternate basin while concrete and fencing work is being done. - Thanks

Next Dog Club Meeting-- The next meeting is May 1st in the Rosewood room from 2-4.

The Farmers Market features fresh produce, food trucks, local honey, hand-made items such as soaps and bakery products, body care products, spice blends, coffee, jewelry, jelly, CBD wellness products, music and much more!

If you want to add a “furry friend” to your family, volunteers from Rachel’s Rescue in Gilbert will have 10-12 puppies and young dogs available for adoption.
