Share from a friend's page thanks Valerie Metcalf. Call posted that one of her G. Danes had damaged her foot pad and how to heal and protect it. I thought this was a great method!

For hunting dogs we used regular alum. Make a watery paste. Stand her in it. A Frisbee is ideal. 5 minutes or so. It will track unless dry. But when it's dry it really toughens up the damaged pad quickly. Usually 2 or 3 treatments. We used it when the hounds ran off the pads. I used it on my Tempest after she tore hers badly. She showed without a problem the following week. I left her open to it and apparently it is not delicious. 😆. But you can use a mediboot.
