Thank you, Victoria Stilwell for saying all of the things I’m too tired right now to say. I’ve been fortunate to not suffer too much burnout over the past two decades, and have focused on helping clients unpack why the intentional use of intimidation, fear, and pain is not only damaging, but impedes learning. As a company, Dynamite Doggies has successfully replaced aversive tools, with humane management and training solutions. What most of you don’t see and hear are the stories of the emotional damage done to dogs using these outdated methods. Behind the scenes we see it all too often. Our clients are trusting and brave, and in 99% of cases want us to help them find an easier, softer way. We love our clients fiercely, so we are honest with them. We spend months/years helping people therapeutically treat the long term side effects of aversive tools and methods. I don’t care how adept anyone is at using a torture device, I’m not interested in regulation to limit use of a torture device to professionals. I also can’t take anyone seriously who says some dogs aren’t damaged by these practices. I say this because we are the ones helping people pick up the pieces.
