Come join us to close out our 2024 Season! We have a FREE play day open to everyone. Members and Non-Members welcome to come join and participate in this day of socializing and fun with or without horses. Spend the day hanging out with like minded horse people.

The September Gymkhana is coming up in a flash. The silent auction is coming together, and it will take place on September 23rd. I have been told of some really nice items. Please bring your spending money! Those of you that have contributed items, please check your email for the form to fill out and bring with your items for the auction.

The 50/50 Raffle will take place on October 14th. There will be a prize for the most tickets sold. If anyone needs more tickets, please contact Kathy Montoya.

The silent auction and 50/50 raffle fundraisers will help ensure we can have the really nice awards like we have had in the past.

Hello All!
The Southwest Championship Gymkhana is coming up July 29, 2023. Location is Landmark Mercantile, 12000 Stern Dr., Mesquite, NM. Events will be Barrels, Poles, Flags and a fun event. The events start at 6:00 pm. No gate fee for spectators.

LCHA riders will compete to earn points as a group. The group to win the most points will receive Championship Buckles. LCHA will be competing against Anthony Rodeo Club & Landmark Gymkhana. Our top 3 competitors in the 10 – 12 age group are Madison Rogers, Logan Hathorn & Caleb Rogers. In the 13 – 17 age group are Arena Rogers, Karley Moore & Breeona Harris. In the 18 – 39 age group are Ali Lenderman, Christan Rogers & Sara Pierce. In the 40 & over age group are Kasssie Hathorn, Victoria Murphy and Kay Lee.

What Do “1D”, “2D”, “3D” and “4D” Mean in Barrel Racing?

In barrel racing, “1D”, “2D”, “3D” and “4D” are terms that denote the first, second, third and fourth divisions. Divisions are determined by taking the fastest time ran by a horse on a specific track and marking that as “1D,” then setting the following divisions by adding set segments of time to the fastest time posted.

For instance, if a horse runs a track in 17 seconds, then 17 seconds will be the fastest time of division one. It is different for every association, but normally the second division will start with times that are half a second slower than 17 seconds, the third division will start with times that are 1 second slower than 17 seconds, and so on. This system guarantees that everyone only competes against members of their own division instead of competing with the fastest time overall.

LCHA Gymkhana uses this method for determining the winners for our payback events.
