Oh I haven’t played with fleas since grooming school! (They dont last in Nevada with the dry heat, returning to Texas I knew to prepare for this!)
This little pup came in short- Matting in hard to clip areas and fleas hiding even in the shortest of hair. You can see his parents were really trying to help him out and get to the bottom of it all after taking him into their home.
Honestly, I love these little rescue grooms they fill my heart up.
Flea bath and comb through, multiple times! I think I got all those boogers! And holly cow who is this dog leaving!? From tan to pure white, and ohhh so happy. Im in love, Chucky I so hope for follow up visits with you because I totally see your worth!
Side Note: He reminds me of a maltese I did back home who crossed the rainbow bridge, Pawlie I miss and love you and if you sent this little guy my way thankyou!!!

Let’s talk about matting! This may be lengthy!
Matting can happen depending on many factors! Even dogs with a double coats can matt during shedding seasons if the hair isn’t dropping or being released. So dont think it’s just curly(single) coated dogs!
🐾Some dogs will matt more on one side vs the other this is mainly caused by how your dog lays, favoring the right or left side over the other.
🐾Playing/rough housing with other dogs will cause matting.
🐾toddlers will cause matting! 😆
🐾And un-frequent brushing.
✨Matts! If a matt is tight on a dog you should NEVER cut it out! If its not hanging or you cant feel the skin the matt is most likely hugging the dogs skin. When matting becomes tight like this it is cutting off the dog’s blood flow/ circulation to that area. If you where to take shears/scissors to this area you are at high risk of cutting the dogs skin open. This is why most groomers take a blade to the dog to safely remove the matt.
Even with brushing it can cause a loss of hair or irritation.
⚠️Once the matt is removed you may see discoloration/ bruising this is because there was no circulation and now circulation is returning to the area. Depending on the severity of the matting this is usually improved within 1-3 days.
Even shorter cuts matt! Heres MY dog for example. Life happens right!? We get busy, we travel, have kids, activities, play dates, and other things that happen! We ARE NOT PERFECT! Even when it comes to our pets!
I have been behind on Sams care, I took a quick trip during her week of care and in all honesty am going on about 3 weeks of ignoring the brush with her. AND SHES AT A SHORT LENGTH! With puppy play, toddler play, I found a matt this morning. After getting into the matt she does in fact have a bald spot now 😔 (sorry Sam). I did brush it out, VERY CAREFULLY (no pets were harmed in the making of my confession). She will get her bath tonight. (Always brush and comb your pet before the bath and after their dry. Putting conditioner on a matt will not loosen it like our hair, it will actually make the matt tighter if you are not brushing it through.)
✨Hold the matt at the skin, gently start to loosen it (you can even do this with your fingers, pulling the hair apart.) as the matt loosens begin to brush gently more and more doing your best to keep the brush from gliding over and over on the skin. This is why I hold the matt with my hand, to not cause irritation to the dog (brush burn). As it becomes looser begin to brush around other areas giving the pet a break from the direct spot, loosening other hair. The more the matt is released you may start doing direct brushing on the area. Complete brushing by taking a comb and running it through the area insuring all knots are out.

Sam is use to regular care/ brushing. She appreciates this time/ connection with me. With patience and care you too can get your dog to appreciate it too!
If your dog was ever shaved down due to matting I always suggest starting the habit even if its not needed, while you watch tv keep the brush on the table and just easily glide it down them, showing them that its not only when they have knots, picture if we only brushed our hair with knots, we’d hate the brush too! The more you care in between showing them it’s not always a tugging process the more they’ll warm up to enjoying it. Knots/matting happens, life happens. don’t let others shame you for it!
Added note: for new slicker brushes go outside and brush the concrete a few times before using on your pet, their skin will thankyou!

Doodle Overhaul!
Rose 🌹 is my first Texas 2 weeker sign up. It’s an offer I give for my Oodle families and my shedding dogs to help maintain coat comfort; leading to a happier dog, and an easier process when visiting.
2 weeks was a hit back in Vegas and after much consideration on continuing this package Im happy to bring the benefits into the Mesquite area. 🫶🏼
Rose 🌹 came in pretty much set to one length all over from her last groom.
With some definition and setting her future starting style I can already see how amazing her future hair growth is going to be.
She was an absolute doll, and Im so stoked to finally get an Oodle back on the table that isn’t my own. Today brought such joy to my heart, along with all the memories of my Vegas Oodle families.

Dear Vegas,
Phew😔 tonight I began putting the trailer in order for the following week, cleaning and organizing from our big move. Being in that space of where it all began. The support, the dream, and how on the inside it really does feel like home, yet it’s miles and miles away. I came upon of course the files of my clients cards/ notes of your pets; their behavior, their cuts, their history. Over 100’s, over years of building.
I cant phantom throwing them away. Its the same feeling with the 1,000’s of photos/videos I own of them😣
Oh how I miss you.
Saying goodbye to Vegas, in my heart everyone of you is held as family. This has been the most hardest part about moving. The photos, the memories, the years of connecting.
My whole business was shaped around my clients, these families, the community, the support and the following.
Ive been dreading doing a post because where do I begin? I would never want to leave you, I could never phantom this feeling. To give a shout out to all of you individually is what my heart longs for.
Knowing that my family wanted and needed more was always a dream, knowing how to say goodbye was a struggle I couldn’t dream upon.
The lessons Ive learned just from clients and the lives Ive shared with all these pets. How could this ever be the same?
I know Ill grow again, I know I can flourish. You all have made such a home for me, such a foundation. The support you’ve given me through all ups and downs, the time, space, and patience to build a family. I love you all so much. It will never be the same. How my heart will ache not seeing you all on a regular basis.
Thankyou for your support. I love you. Vegas you’ll be missed.
